Chapter 543 Not Pure Enough

"The mere act of intimidation unsettles you so. Should someone attempt your life, would you tremble in fear?"

Eason was keen to witness her reaction when faced with the threat of death, imagining the intriguing display of terror upon her countenance.

"You're so creepy, talking about death and all. Even though you're my employer, if you keep scaring me, I won't take care of you anymore. Find someone else." Ella was really angry.

"Alright, I won't tease you anymore. After all, you're senior to me in years. It's only right that I accord you the respect due to my elder."

Ella's face darkened, "Who's your elder? I'm only twenty-two, just four years older than you. You should call me sister."

Eason's eyebrows tightened immediately, and he stared at her with cold eyes.

Seeing his cold and sharp gaze, she was terrified. Although he didn't say anything, the eerie feeling was like it suddenly blocked her breath.

"You are so timid." Eason pointed at her. "And you have the nerve to call yourself my sister."

Ella pouted, "I'm not timid. I just..."

She suddenly didn't know what to say. After hesitating for a while, she said, "If you don't want to call me sister, then don't."

But honestly, Ella really wanted to hear Eason call her sister. When he called Ava sister, his voice was sweet and particularly cute, but in private, he had a different face.

She felt he was a bit of a weirdo.

Ava walked towards William's hospital room. In the hallway, Alexander approached.

Ava stopped.

After a week without seeing him, she experienced an unusual sensation, not exactly longing, but more like the odd feeling of having something familiar disappear and reappear before her eyes.

That feeling was both strange and familiar.

"Do you remember what we need to do today?" Alexander asked.

Ava looked up. "I remember. We need to go to the wedding Grandma mentioned."

Alexander glanced at his watch. "We should leave now. We can be back by the afternoon."

"Okay, let me tell William, and please wait for me here."

Alexander nodded, quietly leaning against the wall with his hands in his pockets, looking patient.

Ava felt a bit dizzy as if many familiar scenes flashed before her eyes, and for a moment, it seemed like they were back to the time before their divorce.

Back then, their relationship was gentle and calm.

At first, Ava couldn't understand why Alexander divorced her for Isabella. Was it because of love?

But if he loved Isabella so much, how could he show such loving care to her?

Their marriage was free of disputes and doubts. He was always considerate and caring towards her. She thought he was responsible enough to treat her well even if he didn't love her. But when he proposed the divorce, he did it without hesitation, without a trace of reluctance.

It was only when Alexander confessed his enduring love for her, that Ava came to the realization that the harmony in their marriage had always stemmed from their mutual love His kindness and care were not her illusions. They both loved each other. Unfortunately, neither of them confessed their feelings, always doubting each other.

Perhaps their love wasn't pure enough. Otherwise, why would they doubt each other?

"What's wrong?" Alexander saw Ava daydreaming.
