Chapter 39: Having An Aversion to Isabella

George turned his head. "What's up? Thinking about another woman while you're with one? Impressive."

Alexander didn't know what to say but didn't want to let go.

Isabella bit her lip, a look of reluctance flashing in her eyes, then put on a pitiful expression. "Uncle George, it's all my fault. I'm sorry. I..."

"If you know it's your fault, then go die." George cut her off coldly.

Ava was shocked. She hadn't met George many times and was quite afraid of him. He was always serious, and Scarlett rarely mentioned him.

She knew only that George and his wife, Mia Thompson, didn't get along well. They lived separately and were practically divorced, and she thought he didn't care much about marriage.

Isabella looked like a deer caught in headlights, her lips trembling.

"Dad, that's too much," Alexander said, frowning. "It's not Isabella's fault; it's mine. Blame me."

"Fine, I'll blame you. Then you go die." George's sharp gaze fell on Alexander.

"Go on, the window's open. Jump out and atone for your death!" George urged.

Alexander hadn't expected George to say that and looked very upset.

"Alexander, don't." Isabella grabbed his arm, shaking her head desperately.

"Which one of you is going to die? Didn't you both say it was your fault? Why not die together?" George was impatient, showing no mercy even to his son.

Ava was stunned, not expecting George to be so harsh with Alexander. In most real-life situations, fathers would protect their sons first. Even reasonable people wouldn't speak so harshly, let alone tell their son to die.

Despite her shock, Ava felt of satisfaction. Finally, someone wasn't falling for Isabella's act.

The atmosphere grew tense. Ava, feeling awkward being held by both George and Alexander, gently freed herself. "Dad, I'm leaving."

She turned to walk out. Alexander wanted to call her back, but George stopped him.

"What's wrong with you, Dad?" Alexander frowned.

"What? You should ask yourself that. I'm done talking." George turned to leave.

At the door, he suddenly looked back at Isabella. "My mom doesn't want you marrying into the Mitchell family. Me, either! Even if she's old, there's still me. I have all the time to deal with you."

Isabella was furious. Crying, she said, "What did I do wrong? Is it wrong to love someone? I just..."

The office door closed. Isabella's words were cut off as George walked away, giving her no chance to argue. No matter how good Isabella's acting was, it was useless against someone like George, who naturally disliked her type.

"Alexander, it's all my fault. I'm sorry for causing trouble between you and your dad." Isabella was crying so hard she could barely breathe.
