Chapter 805 Let's Meet Halfway

Hearing the noise, Alexander spun around.

He saw Madison collapse, clutching her chest and gasping for air.

Alarmed, he rushed over, lifting her into his arms. "What's wrong?"

"I can't breathe..."

Madison's face was pale, her chest heaving.

Alexander quickly unbuttoned her shirt, then picked her up and dashed out the door.

Hours later, Madison woke up around midnight.

She opened her eyes and saw Alexander beside her, feeling a bit relieved.

"You're awake," Alexander said, watching her. "How do you feel?"

Madison glanced outside, anxious. "Mr. Mitchell, what time is it?"

Alexander checked his watch. "It's 4:38 A.M."

Madison sat up.

Alexander helped her, adjusting the quilt and placing a pillow behind her.

"Why are you still here?" Madison asked.

"I brought you to the hospital. You hadn't woken up, so I stayed. Why didn't you tell me you have a heart condition?"

Madison looked down, feeling ashamed.

She wanted to apologize but remembered how impatient Alexander had been last time, so she held back.

"I'm embarrassed to talk about my illness. I didn't expect a heart attack. Sorry for the trouble, and thank you for bringing me here."

"It's no big deal," Alexander said. "I'd help anyone in need."

"You need rest. Is there anyone who can take care of you? What's your family's number? I'll contact them."

"I haven't been in touch with my family for a long time," Madison said. "Mr. Mitchell, thank you. It's late; you should go home and rest. I'm sorry to take up more of your time."

"How are you gonna handle it by yourself?" Alexander asked.

"I'll be fine. I've always managed alone."

"But you have a heart condition. Have you always been alone?"

Madison nodded. "Yes, I used to carry medication, but I haven't had an attack in a while. Too much medicine isn't good."

"That's too risky," Alexander said.

"I don't have a choice. I can't afford help."

Alexander thought for a moment. "How about I hire a caregiver for you? I'll cover the cost."

"That's too much," Madison refused. "I appreciate it, but I can't repay you."

"It's not a big deal. You saved me, so I'm just returning the favor."

Madison felt distressed every time he mentioned repaying her.

"Seriously, Mr. Mitchell, there's no need. You've already helped dealing with my ex and brought me here. We're even. I can't accept any more financial support from you."

Seeing her stubbornness, Alexander compromised.

"Okay, let's meet halfway. While you're in the hospital, I'll hire a caregiver. After that, I won't interfere. Deal?"
