Chapter 733 It's Good to Be Dead
William snapped, "Yeah, she went to find him. Because of that, her health has taken a turn for the worse. She had emergency surgery this morning. Your son, whether as her husband or ex-husband, just drags her down."
Mia didn't want to deal with William anymore and hung up.
Half an hour later, Mia showed up at the operating room.
When William saw her, he stood up and asked coldly, "What are you doing here?"
Mia replied calmly, "Ava's like a daughter to me. Of course, I'm here for her surgery. But your family doesn't treat her like one of their own. Besides you, no one else came."
William retorted, "She's my wife. My being here is enough; the rest doesn't matter. Plus, Ava's surgery got moved up, and they didn't know. If you want to blame someone, blame your son. Ava went to find him last night, came back upset, and needed surgery this morning. Your son really knows how to mess things up."
Mia snorted. "Really? Since you know Ava went to see Alexander last night, do you know what they talked about?"
William shot back, "Ask your son. Ava went to him, risking her life, but he ignored her. She had to talk to him through the door. If Alexander really wants to cut ties, he should be more ruthless and never see her again. He shouldn't keep making her sad!"
Mia frowned. "Of course, Alexander didn't respond because he wasn't in the room."
Hearing this, William's suspicions were confirmed.
He thought, 'I'm right. Alexander didn't hear what Ava said.'
'I thought it was strange that Alexander didn't respond after Ava said so much.'
'He would give up his life for Ava. How could he not react when she went to find him?'
'Great, he wasn't in the room, and he didn't hear what Ava said.'
'Alexander, see? Even fate isn't on your side.'
'Your relationship isn't blessed.'
William suppressed his inner joy and stayed calm.
"Really? No wonder Ava talked to him, and he didn't respond. So he wasn't in the room. Where did he go?"
'Could Alexander be dead? That would be great. It would be good if he is dead,' William thought smugly.
Mia saw the smugness in William's eyes.
She said, "I'm not telling you. I'll talk to Ava when she comes out."
She didn't trust William.
"You want to tell her that Alexander is missing, right?" William asked.
Mia frowned. "I didn't say Alexander is missing. How do you know he's missing?"
William said, "I don't know, but from your expression, I can guess. You called Ava to ask if she had seen Alexander, right?"
Mia crossed her arms and said coldly, "None of your business."
She went to see Alexander this morning, only to find he wasn't in his room.
She tried to check the surveillance footage, but it had all been destroyed.
She was very worried that something had happened to Alexander and searched for him everywhere.
He must have gone missing last night.
William scoffed, "How is it none of my business? I am Ava's husband now. But your son is just her ex-husband; he has nothing to do with her anymore."
Mia said, "Even after the divorce, she is still part of the Mitchell family."
"So what?" William said, "Even if she is part of the Mitchell family, she's closer to me now. Can't you all just leave her alone? Why do you all have to keep bothering her?"
