Chapter 553 Control Himself
Ava heard this and frowned slightly. "Did you really hear the groom say that?"
"Would I lie to you?" Suddenly, Alexander laughed at himself, "You're right to ask. I did lie to you."
Ava lowered her eyes. "Even if this is true, and you heard the groom's words, if you wanted to help, you could have said it privately. There was no need to make such a big scene in public. This could very well ruin the relationship between Grandma and her friends."
"Ava, you really are considerate." Alexander let go of her, turned around, and slumped powerlessly into a chair.
He didn't know how much he had drunk. Now, the alcohol was hitting him hard, and he could barely stand.
He continued, "But I did it anyway. As a man about to get married, just because of pressure, he betrayed his fiancée and slept with another woman. Such a person deserves to be despised by everyone."
Ava stared at him silently for a good ten seconds before she spoke. "Since you are so clear about right and wrong, why did our marriage end up like this? If you loved Isabella, you shouldn't have married me. If you loved me, then after marrying me, you shouldn't have been involved with Isabella. Alexander, morality is meant to restrain oneself, not to criticize others."
"Ava," Alexander said slowly, "do you think I slept with Isabella?"
Ava's emotions were complex, her thumb and forefinger rubbing together with increasing force, even sweating.
"To me, it doesn't matter anymore," Ava replied.
"So you don't want to know at all?" Alexander asked.
Ava said, "I don't want to know. It's between you and Isabella. I don't care. we're already divorced."
"What about before we divorced? Did you care?" Alexander pressed on.
"It's all in the past. It doesn't matter anymore," Ava repeated.
Alexander leaned back in his chair, and remarked, "Yes, it doesn't matter anymore because you have William now. Great, why didn't he ever hurt you? I'm really jealous. I'm very selfish. I love you and don't want you to be hurt, but on the other hand, I wish William would do something wrong and hurt you. At least then, compared to him, I wouldn't seem so bad. But now, how can I compare?"
Ava straightened her clothes and said, "I'll explain today's events to Grandma myself. You should apologize to the bride and groom, including their families. This wedding ended in chaos because of you, and you are responsible."
Alexander heard about the groom's betrayal of the bride. He could have said it privately, but he chose such an aggressive method, making it known to everyone.
Ava felt that Alexander was different now. He seemed crazier and more reckless. He used to be meticulous and rational, but now he was like a wild madman, capable of anything.
"Yes, I am responsible. I have always been responsible." Alexander held his aching forehead, took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and frowned, looking very uncomfortable.
Ava couldn't help but take a step closer to him, but as soon as she did, she stepped back. Finally, she said coldly, "Alright, I'll apologize to them for you. You rest here for a while, and then I'll take you away. Before that, I hope you can control yourself."
