Chapter 772 Except for Ava
After a bit, William said, "Ava, if you really don't want to, I won't push you. Don't worry, you don't owe me anything. Mrs. Thompson already apologized, so no hard feelings. I never had any to begin with."
William's kindness made Ava's heart ache.
He was incredibly nice to her.
The nicer he was, the guiltier she felt, making her want to make it up to him.
"William, I'll stay with you until you get your memory back."
William's brow furrowed. "And after that? Will you leave?"
"No, William, I mean..."
Ava got flustered, struggling to explain.
"Alright, Ava, I get it." William gently patted her head. "I understand. You'll stay with me. We'll figure out the future later. Let's focus on now. Take care of yourself, and let me be here with you."
Ava nodded.
When Ava was resting, William left the room.
He pulled out his phone and called Dalton.
"Dad, I need to ask you something."
"What's up?"
"Mrs. Thompson came to see me and Ava, and her attitude towards me changed completely. Did you say something to her?"
The more William thought about it, the less it made sense. Even after Mia left, he couldn't shake it off.
"Mia came to see you?"
Hearing Dalton's affectionate tone, William frowned. "Why do you call her that so warmly?"
Dalton didn't answer directly but asked, "How did her attitude change?"
"She apologized and looked at me with guilt. Her eyes were weird, and she even tried to touch my face."
"Really? And how did you react?"
"What do you think?" William said with disgust, "I was repulsed."
"William, you shouldn't say that," Dalton's tone turned serious.
"She called me a bastard yesterday, hit and cursed at me, and today she acted like this. Shouldn't I be repulsed?"
"William, did she say why she apologized?"
"She said you warned her. What exactly did you say to make her apologize?"
Dalton went silent.
It seemed Mia hadn't told William the truth. She probably didn't want him to know yet.
Since that was the case, he wouldn't tell him either.
Now wasn't the right time.
He had deceived Mia for years, and this time he wanted to give her a choice.
If she wanted to acknowledge William, he hoped she'd say it herself. If not, he wouldn't either.
"William, I did talk to her yesterday. She probably apologized because she didn't want to offend me and knew she went too far."
William took a deep breath. "Alright then, that's it."
After hanging up, William looked at his reflection in the glass.
Half of his face was swollen and unrecognizable, looking awful.
Though he was furious about how Mia treated him yesterday, he had to thank her.
Otherwise, how would Ava feel so sorry for him?
He wouldn't let anyone who humiliated him get away with it.
In this world, he didn't care about anyone else except for Ava!
