Chapter 1190 Back Home
Bishop drove Ava to the place where she used to live.
This place was quite remote, and the nearest bus stop was at least a twenty-minute walk away.
Back then, this area wasn't worth much. Ava's house, including the shared area, was less than 850 square feet.
It was an old five-story building, and almost no one lived there anymore.
At one point, someone wanted to buy the entire five-story building, supposedly to convert it into apartments, offering each resident more than the market price based on the area.
The residents sold their houses one after another, and not long after, they heard that the place was going to be demolished. They regretted it, but they had received more money than the market value of their houses, so they didn't make a fuss in the end.
Years have passed, and although there were talks of demolition, the place still hasn't been torn down.
The front gate was locked, and the chain was rusty. They didn't know how to get in.
Bishop was holding Sunny in his arms. He handed Sunny to Ava and said, "Ava, hold Sunny for a moment."
Ava took Sunny, and then Bishop suddenly climbed over the wall.
Ava was shocked. The wall was quite high, yet he managed to jump over it.
Bishop came to the big iron gate and observed it for a while. The rusty lock was hard to open.
He looked around and suddenly saw another door not far away. Bishop walked over to it. This door was bolted from the inside and could be opened.
He pulled the bolt and opened the small door.
Seeing this, Ava quickly walked around and went inside.
Bishop closed the small iron door and said, "Let's go in."
The two of them went upstairs.
Ava's home was on the third floor.
When they reached the door, it was tightly closed, and the lock was already rusty. Bishop looked around to make sure no one was there and said to Ava, "Ava, step aside for a moment."
Ava took a few steps back.
Then, Bishop lifted his foot and forcefully kicked the door open.
The door made a loud noise, but fortunately, no one was around.
"Bishop, is your leg okay?" Ava was worried he might have fractured it.
"I'm fine," Bishop said. "I'll go in first and take a look."
Bishop went in first to check the place, then waved to Ava, "Come in."
Ava walked into the living room, and a familiar feeling overwhelmed her. She almost cried.
This was her former home. It wasn't big and was a bit shabby, but it was very cozy. However, now all the furniture had been moved out, and there was nothing left. The floor was littered with debris and trash.
At a glance, the stickers on the empty walls were covered in dust, and the whole room had a stuffy smell.
Bishop opened the window to let in some fresh air.
"Bishop, looking around, there's nothing here. Do you really think the bracelet could still be here?" Ava didn't dare to hope too much.
The place had been uninhabited for a long time, and a thick layer of dust had accumulated everywhere, making it very dirty.
There was a chair nearby. Bishop tested it and found it sturdy. He then took off his jacket and laid it on the chair. "Ava, sit here for a while. I'll help you look for the bracelet."
"I'll look for it myself," Ava said, feeling embarrassed to let him help.
Bishop smiled and said, "It's okay. I can be faster. You hold Sunny and sit for a while. When I get tired, we'll switch."
Ava responded, "Alright then."
