Chapter 1163 The Last Bit of Sanity
He found Alexander ridiculous. Given the situation, what was there left to explain?
Mending the pen after the sheep are lost, it's too late. Why couldn't he understand this principle?
The moment Alexander pushed her away and supported Madison, it was clear where his heart's balance tilted. She saw it clearly.
She and Alexander were already divorced. Whoever he was with was his own business. But the key issue was that Scarlett's matter was related to Madison, so Alexander's defense of Madison made Ava feel disgusted.
"Fine, I won't explain anymore. I apologize to you. I'm sorry."
"You don't need to apologize to me. I don't need your apology. I just want to find out the cause of Grandma's death. In my view, it has something to do with Madison and that Emily."
"I will get to the bottom of this," Alexander said. "If Grandma was really murdered, I will not let it go."
"Really? Then tell me, if it was Madison who did it, what would you do?"
"If it was really Madison, I definitely wouldn't let her off," he said firmly.
Ava sneered, "Very well, Alexander. I will remember your words. I will do everything I can to find evidence that this matter is related to Madison. The gentle, kind-hearted girl in your eyes is a devil. She is not at all what you see."
"Ava, since you say you need to find evidence, it means there is no evidence now. If there's no evidence, it's unfair to accuse her like this."
After all, Madison had accompanied him through his most painful times, giving him everything. She was so humble, and he felt guilty towards Madison.
"You're talking to me about fairness?" Ava laughed sarcastically. "Grandma is dead. Is that fair? Your so-called fairness is just because it involves Madison, so you instinctively protect her. If the suspect were someone else, you wouldn't be talking to me about fairness."
"Ava, I..."
"Don't argue," Ava interrupted him. "You just don't want to admit that Madison did it. Even if I find evidence, you would probably destroy it."
"Don't say that. How could I do such a thing? She was my grandmother. I'm not a beast."
He couldn't bear Ava saying such things.
"For Madison, you can do anything. Just like when you wanted to divorce me for Isabella, not caring if Grandma was angry. You are always doing things for other women."
Ava didn't want to think of Alexander as so bad. She didn't think he was that bad, but with such things happening, she couldn't help but think the worst and prepare for the worst.
Alexander was heartbroken. Hearing Ava's words, his aching heart ignited with anger, "And you? Aren't you always doing things for other men? Yes, I was the one who first proposed the divorce, but you quickly got involved with William. When you were kidnapped, I went to save you, but you abandoned me and chose William. I almost died there. Isn't that enough to make up for my mistakes? How many men are around you now? William, Bishop, and a young man. Are you trying to make your child have three fathers?"
Ava slapped Alexander hard.
Feeling the burning pain on his face, Alexander pressed his tongue against his cheek, a cold, sad smile on his face. "Why did we end up like this? I admit I was stupid. I started it. But I have repented to you countless times. Why can't you..."
"Can't trust you, right?" Ava interrupted him. "Alexander, how many times have I trusted you? But you trampled on my trust again and again. Why should I trust you? What happened today made me realize once again that you are not trustworthy. I am very disappointed in you. If Bishop hadn't caught me, I would have been pushed to the ground by you. Do you want to recall how much force you used?"
Ava clenched her fists tightly, her nails almost digging into her palms.
Alexander, with tears in his eyes, looked at her guiltily, "Ava, I..."
"Alexander, this conversation is over. I don't want to talk to you anymore. There's nothing left to say between us. Go and hold your Madison. Keep defending her. Let's see how long you can protect her. When the truth comes out, you'll realize how much you owe Grandma."
Ava opened the car door and sat in the driver's seat.
Alexander stood there in a daze, silent.
Before leaving, Ava said to him through the car window, "Alexander, when I was kidnapped, you and William both came to save me. The kidnapper played a perverted game, making me choose between you and William. One of you would get hurt. I chose to let you get hurt. I have always felt guilty and pained for that. I wanted to apologize to you, to repent, to make up for my mistake. But you avoided me, refusing to see me. Then so many things happened. Until now, I have changed my mind. From this moment on, I will no longer dwell on that matter. I will no longer feel guilty. I will no longer suffer for you."
Ava wanted to say: You don't deserve to be my child's father.
But she swallowed the words.
When people are angry, they tend to say emotional things and lose their rationality.
Ava retained the last bit of her rationality.
The car window slowly closed, and the car drove towards the parking lot.
Alexander stared at the parking spot until the car disappeared. He took several steps back, a bitter smile on his face, and tears welled up in his reddened eyes.
"Ava, why didn't I die back then? I should have died there."
