Chapter 140 A Roar of Fury
Isabella's gaze found its way to William, her curiosity piqued.
'He is undeniably handsome, but who is he?' she pondered.
She had heard Alex address him as William, indicating a familiarity. Could it be that Ava had entangled herself with another man, and Alex was aware of it?
The sight of him dressed in a waiter's uniform suggested he was an employee of the establishment, possibly explaining Ava's presence. This realization filled Isabella with a sense of smug satisfaction.
'What use is physical attractiveness if a man lacks status or position? In comparison to Alex, this man is no competition. Ava, with her humble beginnings, is fittingly paired with these low-ranking servers,' Isabella mused.
William, on the other hand, felt an instinctive revulsion towards Isabella. His face contorted into a scowl as he turned to Ava, asking, “Ava, what do you want to do now?”
"Come on, Ava, just finalize the divorce," Isabella urged, her grip on Alexander’s hand tightening as she perched on the edge of the bed, her triumphant demeanor almost sickening.
Ava's response was unexpected. She laughed.
'Why should I weep, why should I seethe with anger? Why should I bear the humiliation dealt by Alexander? Why should I grant them satisfaction?' Ava questioned herself.
Ava retreated a few steps, her smile taunting as she confronted them, "So, you two are desperate to tie the knot, huh? I'm sorry, but I've changed my mind. I won't sign the divorce papers!"
Isabella's face drained of color at the declaration. "What did you just say?"
Even William was taken aback, but he remained silent. He understood Ava's state of mind. This was about her dignity and not letting the adulterous pair off the hook.
"Have you lost your senses? You finally have the divorce papers, how can you not proceed with it?" Isabella fumed.
"I simply won't," Ava retorted smugly, reveling in Isabella's frustration. "You're so eager to become Mrs. Mitchell, aren't you? Well, I won't allow it. Regardless of the shameless acts you and Alexander have committed, it doesn't alter the fact that you will always be the other woman, and your relationship will never be legitimate. If word gets out, you two will be scorned forever!"
Isabella, trembling with rage and as pale as a sheet, was at a loss for words.
"You're being unreasonable, how can you treat Alex this way?" Isabella clung to Alexander's arm desperately, "Alex, she's doing this deliberately, just to keep us apart. We can't let her succeed!"
Alexander's head throbbed, as if it were splitting in two. Even Isabella's voice in his ear was grating, adding to his irritation. He shook off her grip, clenched his jaw, threw off the covers, and staggered towards Ava, trying to speak, "Ava."
William quickly positioned himself in front of Ava, "Back off."
Alexander's fists clenched tightly, his teeth grinding with fury. "Move!"
"You've forfeited any right to approach her. Go enjoy your vacation with your mistress!" William retorted defiantly.
"William!" Alexander's roar echoed through the room, his anger erupting like a dam bursting.
He swung his fist with all his might, landing a punch squarely on William's face.
Ava gasped and rushed to steady him.
"William, are you alright?"
Hearing the name "William," Alexander's already seething temper ignited further, "So cozy with him, huh? What's your relationship with this guy?"
"Alexander, you've crossed a line!" Ava stepped in front of William, "How could you resort to violence? That's disgraceful!"
"Disgraceful? Then why the hell are you with this guy? Tell me!"
Alexander teetered on the brink of losing control. Seeing Ava protect another man, he threw caution to the wind.
