Chapter 1129 Are You Retaliating Against Me?
"No, I just got up to use the bathroom and turned on the light. I saw you weren't there and wondered where you went. Did Sunny cry? I didn't hear anything." She pretended not to know about it.
Alexander stepped forward and said, "Sunny woke up, but he's fine now. I got him back to sleep."
"Oh." Ava smiled, "Thank you. Why didn't you wake me up?"
"You were sleeping soundly, so I didn't wake you. Don't worry, Sunny is asleep again. You can go back to sleep. I'll turn off the light."
As Alexander was about to hit the switch, Ava suddenly spoke, "Alexander."
"What's wrong?" Alexander asked.
Ava looked at him, opening her mouth as if to say something, but nothing came out. Her eyes were filled with a complex emotion.
"Ava, are you feeling unwell?" Alexander asked worriedly, stepping forward and touching her forehead. "Are you feeling sick? Tell me."
"I'm not unwell." Ava gently pushed his hand away.
For a moment, she wanted to tell him that Sunny was his son, but she hesitated.
If she told him now, she didn't know how Alexander would react.
In the middle of the night, her heart was filled with anxiety.
The longer some things were kept secret, the harder they were to reveal.
Seeing Ava's apparent nervousness, Alexander quickly sat on the edge of the bed and said, "What's going on? You can tell me if something's wrong. Is it Madison again? If so, I'll have her sent away right now."
"No, it has nothing to do with her. I just woke up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep. There's nothing else, don't worry."
Alexander sat on the edge of the bed, not intending to leave.
"Ava, I have something to tell you."
"What is it?"
"Madison and I..."
"Don't talk about you two..."
"Ava." Alexander held her hand, interrupting her. "Please, just listen to me, okay? I want to tell you, please give me a chance to speak."
Seeing the plea in Alexander's eyes, Ava softly said, "Alright, go ahead."
"I've already told Madison that I'm going to break it off with her."
Ava responded, "And then?"
"In a few days, I'll tell her again. All this time, I've treated her as your substitute. I'm such a jerk. I know what I did was wrong."
Seeing Alexander's remorseful expression, Ava sighed softly, "Alexander, do you like Madison? Do you have any feelings for her? Even a little bit?"
"The one I love is you. How could I have feelings for someone else?" Alexander answered without hesitation.
"But you love me and still shared a bed with her. Can you honestly say you don't have any feelings for her?"
Ava didn't believe Alexander's words. Even if they weren't entirely false, a significant part was being concealed.
Alexander knew he couldn't hide anything from Ava.
"I admit I felt pity for her, especially after losing hope with you. So I did something foolish. But Ava, you were also pregnant with William's child. I want you to tell me the truth. Did you have a relationship with William before we divorced?"
Ava's hand clenched the bedsheet under the covers.
She had never had a relationship with William, never.
"Alexander, do you think I had a relationship with William, so you wanted to get back at me? Is that it?"
"Ava, don't change the subject."
"I'm not changing the subject. Alexander, if you really want to know the answer, then I..."
Suddenly, there was a commotion outside the door.
"Help, someone!"
