Chapter 734 Surgical Risks
Mia shot William a cold look. "William, you just want to take over Ava, don't you? Are you sure she even loves you?"
William's fists tightened. "Whether she loves me or not is none of your business. Ava's in surgery right now. When she gets out, she won't be in great shape. If you tell her Alexander's missing, she'll be friven crazy."
He continued, anger rising, "You guys don't care about her at all. If you did, you wouldn't be here. Your so-called care is just clinging to her. The best way to show you care is to leave her alone."
Mia snapped back, "Don't twist things, William. Ava and I have our own issues, and they're not for you to meddle in. You've lost your memory, so you probably forgot why Ava married you."
Mia thought, 'Ava's marriage to you is a sham, but you really think you're her husband. So arrogant!'
William's knuckles cracked in anger.
"No matter why she married me, she's my wife. I'll protect her and love her for a lifetime. Unlike you, who killed her parents, pretended to raise her out of kindness, made her feel grateful, and let Alexander torment her."
"You..."
Mia was about to retort when the operating room door swung open.
A doctor rushed over. "Mr. Bennett."
William immediately asked, "How is she?"
The doctor looked grim. "Her condition is more complicated than we thought. She developed complications during surgery, and her cervix is bleeding continuously. She's unconscious. The best course of action is to terminate the pregnancy; otherwise, her cervix might rupture, causing an infection that could be life-threatening."
"What did you say?" Mia was frantic. "Terminate the pregnancy immediately and save her!"
The doctor turned to Mia. "What's your relationship with her?"
"I'm her mother!" Mia replied quickly.
"Then please sign here." The doctor handed her a waiver form.
Mia was about to sign when William snatched it away. "No."
Mia turned, shocked. "What are you doing? Ava's in danger."
William said firmly, "You have no right to sign. You're just her ex-husband's mother. You can't make medical decisions for her. I'm her husband. Only I can."
Mia fumed, "Then sign it quickly!"
"Mr. Bennett, please sign it quickly. Ava's condition is critical," the doctor urged.
William was about to sign but then remembered Ava's words.
She had said, "You must save my child. If my child dies, I won't live either."
William was sweating, his hand trembling as he held the pen.
He thought, 'Terminating the pregnancy means Ava's child would be gone.'
'No.'
'I have to protect Ava, but if her child dies, she won't survive either.'
'Ava warned me with her life, even threatened me.'
"Is there any other way to save the child? Any way at all, tell me!" William pleaded.
'Sometimes there isn't just one way, but doctors always choose the safest method to minimize risk,' William thought.
The doctor reminded him, "Mr. Bennett, your wife's condition is critical. If we try to save the child, she will be at greater risk. At that point, both she and the child could be in danger."
