Chapter 709 Pitiful

Eason's words were dripping with sincerity, trying to prove he was innocent.

Ava felt a bit awkward. "Eason, I never doubted you. Don't overthink it."

"I know you didn't, but your husband seems to dislike me. Did I do something wrong?"

Eason's eyes were filled with unease, like a scared deer, almost on the verge of tears.

William sneered. "Do you expect me to like you?"

'This guy acts like if I don't like him as much as Ava, then I'm the bad guy.'

'Where does he get the nerve?' William thought.

"That's not what I meant," Eason hurriedly explained. "Please don't be mad at me. I just wanted to see Ava, that's all. If I've upset you, I'll leave right away."

Eason covered his mouth in distress, stood up to leave, looking utterly panicked.

Ava felt flustered and quickly grabbed his arm. "Eason, don't be upset. You didn't make us unhappy."

"Really?" Eason looked pitifully at Ava, then his uneasy gaze fell on William.

He was cautious and anxious, as if he had suffered a great injustice but didn't dare to speak.

William was fuming. "What kind of expression is that? Look at how wronged you seem. What are you pretending for?"

'Eason is really good at putting on an act, looking all pitiful. It's disgusting!' William complained in his heart.

"I didn't." Eason was frantic, his voice tinged with tears. "I really don't know what I did wrong. I'll just leave. Goodbye, Ava. I'll come see you next time."

"Don't go." Ava quickly turned to William and said, "How can you be like this? Eason came to see me. He's my friend. Why are you being so mean to him?"

William sneered, saying, "Mean to him? Ava, he's clearly pretending. He's trying to gain your sympathy and make me look like the bad guy. Am I a bad guy? Don't you know me well enough? Would I bully someone for no reason? I'm just afraid you'll be deceived."

They say women are the best at spotting a fake because they understand other women.

Men, on the other hand, understand men very well and can tell what kind of person the other is at a glance.

And men and women are always easily blinded by the opposite sex.

This might be the attraction of opposites and the repulsion of the same.

"William, you're too much. Since I've known Eason, he's never taken advantage of me. You don't understand him at all. How can you make such a hasty judgment? He's not the kind of person you say he is."

Ava frowned tightly, genuinely getting angry.

William was burning with rage.

He wanted to point out that she hadn't known Eason for as long as she had known him!

But as the words were about to leave his mouth, he reconsidered and said, "Really? Then maybe I misunderstood."

William immediately became humble. "I'm sorry, it's my fault. I was just worried you'd be deceived, so I was a bit cautious. If he's truly your good friend, then I apologize to him. I don't remember things from the past, so I'm more guarded."

'At this critical moment, I can't argue with Ava.'

'We'll only argue more fiercely, and it'll become uncontrollable.'

'Eason will be pleased to see us fight!'

'I absolutely won't let him succeed!'

'I have finally convinced Ava not to divorce me, so I can't let anything else happen. No one can ruin our relationship, especially not this gigolo named Eason,' William determined.
