Chapter 383 Lost

The night was shrouded in silence, pierced only by the soft hum of a black SUV idling in the darkness. Eason sat in the driver's seat, wearing a black jacket and a hat blending seamlessly into the night. He extracted his phone from his bag, the screen illuminating his face with an eerie glow.

A message notification flashed across the screen: [Lamb on the cloud sent you a message]

Eason did not respond immediately. Instead, he placed his phone to one side, a single eyebrow arched in amusement as a sinister chuckle escaped his lips. Gone was the facade of the warm-hearted young man, replaced by a figure that seemed possessed by a demon.

As the night deepened, a torrential downpour began to lash the city. Mia, oblivious to the storm outside, was fast asleep in her bed.

The sudden sound of the doorbell ringing jolted her awake. She sat up, rubbing her eyes in confusion. "Who could it be at this ungodly hour?" she muttered to herself.

"Surely not George, bothering me again?" Rising from her bed, she moved cautiously towards the door. The sight of the person on the screen surprised her, and she quickly unlatched the door.

Standing outside was Alexander, his suit jacket flapping open, his tie askew, and his entire body soaked to the bone. His face was ashen, his eyes bloodshot, and he stared blankly at Mia before rasping out, "Mom, what time is it?"

The potent smell of alcohol wafted from him, so strong that Mia could hardly imagine how much he had consumed. His gaze darted around, confusion etched in his eyes, making him resemble a lost child. "I'm lost, this isn't my home. Where is Ava? Where did she go?"

With that, he turned to leave, but Mia called after him, "Alex."

Alexander halted his stumbling steps, then turned his head. "What's the matter?"

Mia nodded. "Um, you're looking for Ava, right? Come over here, I know where she is."

Alexander chuckled lightly, "Really?"

"Really, come here." Mia extended her hand, concern etched on her face. He was heavily drunk and disoriented, and she had no idea how he had ended up here. If she let him leave, who knew what could happen to him?

Alexander stumbled his way over, but his body swayed violently, and he fell face-first to the ground. Mia rushed forward, catching him in her arms. His tall and heavy frame weighed heavily on her shoulders, and she had to muster all her strength to drag him into the house.

With a thud, she deposited Alexander onto the sofa. Exhausted, she straightened her back, wiping off the beads of sweat forming on her forehead as she sighed heavily. "I can't believe this child got himself so drunk."

A gust of wind blew through the room, lifting the curtains and sending a chill down her spine. Mia hurriedly went to close the window. Outside, the rain was pouring heavily, and the wind was howling.

She retrieved clean clothes and a towel from the bedroom and sat down next to the sofa. Raising her hand, she gently patted Alexander's face. "Alex, Alex?"
