Chapter 1231 Double Standards
"Where's Madison? Isn't she with Alexander? Aren't they getting married?"
Liam was taken aback, "Are they getting married? I didn't know about that, the young master never mentioned it."
Ava guessed that Alexander might have said it out of anger, so she asked, "Is Madison pregnant with his child?"
"Yes, she is pregnant with Mr. Mitchell's child. Mr. Mitchell took her to the hospital for a check-up."
Ava was silent for a few seconds before speaking, "If that's the case, why didn't you tell Madison? What good does it do to call me?"
"Ms. Anderson, you know that your words carry more weight than Ms. Allen's."
Finally, Ava sighed, "Give him the phone and tell him I want to talk to him."
"Okay." Liam immediately rushed to Alexander with the phone.
Alexander was about to take a swig of his drink when the butler behind him said, "Mr. Mitchell, Mrs. Mitchell wants to talk to you."
Hearing this, Alexander was slightly taken aback and turned his head. "What did you say?"
Liam handed him the phone and put it on speaker.
Ava's voice came through, "Alexander, are you drinking again?"
Alexander glanced at the butler, "Did you call her?"
The butler put down the phone. "Mr. Mitchell, you should talk to Mrs. Mitchell."
With that, Liam turned and left.
Alexander picked up the phone. "Ava, why do you care about my business? Didn't you tell me to get lost? I'm far away now, why do you care if I drink or not?"
"Alexander, have you forgotten the condition of your stomach? How many times have you promised me you wouldn't drink again? But now you..."
"My business is none of your concern!" Alexander roared, "Why do you care about me? Go take care of Bishop. Didn't you tell me to get lost? I'm far away now, why do you still care about me?"
Alexander's domineering voice carried a hint of sobbing and childishness. Ava was initially angry with him, but hearing him so out of control, she suddenly didn't feel as angry.
Thinking about it, Alexander was too obsessed with his feelings for her. But while he was obsessed with his feelings for his ex-wife, he was also entangled with another woman. His contradictions would only end up hurting himself.
Ava adjusted her emotions and calmly said, "I can pretend today's incident never happened, and I won't bring it up again."
"Just because you don't mention it doesn't mean it didn't happen! Ava, I saw it with my own eyes. He was going to kiss you, and you didn't push him away. Why? Why didn't you push him away? Have you fallen in love with him?"
Ava closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Alexander, can you stop being so hypocritical? If you had pushed Madison away, how could she be pregnant with your child? You can sleep with her, but I can't kiss Bishop? How can you be so hypocritical?"
"I thought she was you!" Alexander said in anguish, "I thought she was you! She looks a lot like you!"
On the other end of the phone, Ava was silent for a long time. After a while, she spoke, "Because she looks like me, you can justifiably treat Madison as a substitute, sleep with her, and get her pregnant? And I can't seek a new life, a new love? Alexander, do you want me to find a man who looks like you so you feel it's fair, or do you think I must come back to you because you love me so much? Is that what you think?"
