Chapter 563 Too Extreme
Ava considered herself innocent. They knew about her marriage to William. As for Alexander and her, they hadn't crossed any lines. Moreover, her presence at this wedding with Alexander today didn't involve anything improper. She had been rejecting Alexander all along, yet Vicky misunderstood her so much that Ava felt somewhat uncomfortable.
"Even if your marriage to William isn't real, you don't need to have unresolved issues with your ex-husband. You know very well how he treated you before," Vicky said.
"I haven't left things unresolved with him. Since you've been along for the ride, haven't you seen it all? I've told him I don't love him anymore," Ava replied.
"What's the use of saying that? He's still clinging to you. In the event that he speaks out of turn in front of William, what course of action should be taken? A person like him is capable of anything," Vicky pressed on.
"If he's clinging to me, is it my fault? What's the point of questioning me like this now, Vicky? I have my own life, my considerations, and my helplessness. I grew up in the Mitchell family, and it's not possible to completely cut ties with them. It's all very complicated; many things in this world and many relationships are not as simple as you imagine," Ava said frustratedly.
"So, are you saying you're going to continue entangling yourself with Alexander?" Vicky pressed.
Ava felt a bit dizzy. "Vicky, why can't you understand me? It's not that I want to entangle myself with Alexander. The Mitchell family raised me, and it's impossible for me to cut ties with them just because I divorced Alexander. I can't abandon his grandmother, who raised me. Without her, I might not even be alive now. I can't have no connection with Alexander at all. If you think I'm wrong or inappropriate because of these connections, then I have nothing more to say. I can only say that you're just looking at things from your perspective."
Vicky hadn't experienced what she had gone through, so she couldn't understand. Ava had lost both parents at a young age. Her aunt squandered the compensation money from her parents and then abandoned her. If it weren't for the Mitchell family saving her, Ava couldn't imagine what she would be like now.
Regardless, the Mitchell family had been kind to her. She couldn't resent the Mitchell family just because she had divorced Alexander, nor could she treat Alexander as an enemy.
"I am standing on your side!" Vicky said angrily, "Alexander hurt you. Even if you have a good relationship with his grandmother, you don't need to continue to meet that jerk, Alexander."
"Vicky, don't speak of him like that," Ava said.
Vicky asked, "What's wrong? Are you angry? Do you want to defend him? Have you forgotten how he treated you?"
Ava explained, "I haven't forgotten, and I won't forget. I'm not defending him. The relationship between Alexander and me is not black and white. I can think he's a jerk; he hurt me, but you don't understand him. You have yet to spend ten years with him like I have. You only see his bad side, but I'm different. I can't just see his flaws.
"If we really want to be fair, Alexander just doesn't understand his true feelings deep down. He made a stupid mistake, divorced me for another woman, and broke my heart. He's despicable, a jerk, but objectively speaking, he has also given me a lot, apart from emotional issues. After the divorce, he apologized and begged me, and I didn't go back to him. That's enough. I don't need to hate him as if he killed my whole family over our emotional issues and cut ties with him completely. That would be too extreme!"
