Chapter 980 Pray for Him
Alexander smirked and said, "I hope so. But Madison, I don't need a perfect girl."
Madison's heart sank. 'Is he still hung up on Ava? She's married with kids now.'
Alexander went on, "Madison, if I ever end up with someone else, it wouldn't be anyone but you."
He wasn't fully there yet, but he was trying.
Maybe time would heal everything, and he'd accept Madison for who she was, not as a stand-in for Ava.
Madison's eyes filled with tears, her heart bursting with joy. She never expected Alexander to say something like that.
She was almost his only woman now.
"Alexander, whether you choose me or not, I just want you to be happy. If I can be the one by your side, I'd be honored. But if not, I'll still wish you well," Madison said, though inside she was ecstatic. She wanted to be with him, to find happiness.
She was determined. She wanted to marry Alexander and have his kids, no matter what.
Alexander looked at her silently, then pulled her into his arms, gently stroking her face and hair. "Madison, you're amazing."
He wondered if things would have been different if he'd met Madison first.
Madison smiled sweetly in his arms, but her expression slowly turned cold.
She pinched her waist, her eyes filled with a fierce possessiveness.
"Bishop, you have to wake up. You'll be okay," Ava said, dressed in protective gear, sitting by Bishop's bed in the ICU.
She had gotten special permission from the doctor to visit, after a thorough disinfection. This was her only chance, and she cherished it.
"You always beat the odds, so you'll make it this time too. Don't give up. I'll stay with you until you get better," Ava said.
"Ms. Anderson, time's up," a nurse reminded her.
Ava nodded. "Okay."
Before leaving, she whispered to Bishop, "I'll be here at the hospital until you wake up. Hang in there."
Ava left the ICU and went to the changing room to take off her protective gear and change back into her clothes.
She was staying at a nearby hotel and had rushed over at dawn.
Even though she couldn't visit Bishop often, she wanted to be close by. He needed someone to watch over him.
It was all she could do, to pray for him.
"Ava," William called out.
Ava turned and saw him. "William, what are you doing here?"
"I came to check on you and bring you breakfast," William said.
Seeing the bruises on William's face, Ava said, "You should be resting at home."
He had been beaten up by Alexander at the restaurant, and then again a few days later.
