Chapter 1272 What's Wrong
Ten minutes later, the police arrived at Ava's doorstep.
Ava had previously hired a professional company to install a system in her home that connected to the nearby police station. In case of an emergency, pressing a button would connect to the nearest police system.
Before leaving, Ava pressed the button, and the police came after receiving the alarm. However, after ringing the doorbell for a long time, there was no response from inside.
They tried calling Ava, but she didn't answer.
Bishop came out of the elevator holding flowers, eagerly anticipating seeing Ava.
But as soon as he reached the door, he saw several police officers at the entrance.
Bishop immediately hid to the side.
Why were the police here?
Could Mandy still be holding a grudge over those things?
But Ava told him that everything was over and that he shouldn't worry and could come back with peace of mind.
Bishop naturally didn't think Ava would deliberately deceive him; it was likely that something had happened.
At that moment, he heard one of the police officers' phones ringing.
The officer answered the phone, "Hello."
"Ms. Anderson? Did you press the alarm? We received the alarm and came over."
The person on the other end said something to the officer, who replied, "I see. Are you sure you're okay?"
"Alright. You should have someone check the system to avoid any future malfunctions."
After a brief conversation, the officer hung up the phone and told his colleagues, "Ms. Anderson called and said she's fine and not at home. It might be a system issue. Let's go."
The police officers left together.
Bishop, hiding in the corner, came out after they left. Hearing what they had just said, he felt puzzled.
Once the police were far away, Bishop immediately went to the door.
Since the door wasn't open, it meant Ava wasn't home.
Bishop planned to go inside directly; he had the password. But after entering it, he found it was incorrect.
Bishop was confused.
He tried again, but it was still incorrect.
It seemed Ava had changed the password, but why did she suddenly change it?
Wait.
Bishop suddenly remembered what the police had said about the alarm system in the house.
From what they said, it seemed the alarm was triggered due to a malfunction and directly contacted the police station.
It sounded like Ava had installed a security system in the house, so the password was changed, and Ava hadn't had the chance to tell him or had forgotten to tell him.
Thinking carefully, it might be because Ava felt insecure after he left, so she installed a security system.
Ava wasn't home now; she must have gone out.
He didn't know when Ava would return, but waiting at the door might arouse suspicion if seen by others, so he decided to go out for a while and come back later.
Just as Bishop was about to leave, he suddenly heard faint crying from inside the door.
Bishop frowned slightly and listened carefully.
The sound of a child crying came from inside, growing louder.
It was clearly Sunny's crying.
Bishop immediately rang the doorbell. "Ava, are you there?"
But inside, there was only Sunny's crying.
Strange, why would Ava leave Sunny alone at home?
Logically, she wouldn't. Ava would definitely take Sunny out with her. Even if it was inconvenient to take Sunny to run errands, she would certainly leave Sunny at a daycare. It was impossible to leave such a small baby at home alone. Something was definitely wrong.
