Chapter 611 Creating Opportunities

William asked, "Do you like the food?"

Elinor nodded. "It's delicious. Thank you for the hospitality."

"You're Ava's friend, so you're my friend too. Of course, we'll treat you well, but..." William hesitated at this point.

Elinor asked, "But what?"

William set his fork down. "Ms. Fairfax, forgive my bluntness, but I feel like since you arrived, Ava has been trying to get us alone as if we were quite familiar before. Did we know each other before?"

Seeing the confusion in his eyes, Elinor felt tempted to reveal the truth, but out of loyalty to Ava, she hesitated, unsure of what to say.

Even though William had lost his memory, his innate sharpness allowed him to sense something. He asked, "Ms. Fairfax, if there's anything you need to say, please tell me. Don't keep anything from me. Given my current situation, I really want to know everything."

"Ms. Anderson didn't tell you everything?" Elinor asked curiously.

William smiled helplessly. "She did share some things, but not everything. I know she's doing it for my benefit, but I'm afraid I'll be too shocked. But she's protecting me too well. I don't want to be a sheltered flower. Ms. Fairfax, if you know something, please tell me, okay?"

"Well..." Elinor glanced at the door, wondering if Ava was nearby.

Noticing Elinor's hesitation, William said, "Wait a moment."

William left the dining room and returned in less than a minute, saying, "Ms. Fairfax, I just checked, and Ava is in the backyard. See, she's giving us another chance to be alone. I really don't understand why she's too trusting of us, especially as my wife."

William smiled awkwardly, but he was aware of the real situation. He and Ava were in a fake marriage. He had overheard her conversation with Brandon that day, which had been a major shock, but he had to pretend he didn't know anything.

Elinor suddenly found herself at a loss for words. She thought, 'It seems he doesn't know about the fake marriage with Ms. Anderson. He is quite pitiful. He has lost his memory and forgotten everything from before. Now, his world is very unfamiliar with only Ms. Anderson left, the woman he truly loved. He remembers his love for her, but she doesn't love him and is pushing him toward another woman.'

William sat down. "Ms. Fairfax, don't worry. Whatever you tell me today, I won't mention it to Ava. I want to know the things I don't know. Please."

Seeing William's sincere expression, Elinor felt a bit soft-hearted. She suddenly thought it was cruel to deceive him.

After a moment's thought, Elinor said, "I can tell you, but do you really promise not to tell Ms. Anderson?"

William looked at her seriously and said, "I won't. I swear on my honor."

William's eyes were captivating and exuded a trustworthy steadiness. Elinor was unconsciously drawn to his gaze and, in a moment of impulse, nodded.

"Actually, I don't know much. It's just that Ms. Anderson always thought you loved me and confessed to me, but I rejected you."

This slightly took William back, a hint of shock flashing in his eyes. "You said I love you? And I confessed but was rejected by you?"
