Chapter 408 Exerting Great Force

Ava stared at him in silence.

What more did he want her to say? Did he expect her to lose control and curse at him like a madwoman?

Would it make him feel superior watching a woman he didn't love losing control and cursing at him?

Alexander let go of the wall, taking a few steps back, creating distance. His eyes held an indescribable heaviness.

"If you're not willing to tell me, then keep it to yourself. You're right. Even if you did, it wouldn't change anything," he said in a low voice.

Ava's anger surged, feeling like a toy he played with. He tossed her in the air only to crash her into hell.

That was Alexander, the man she had loved for so many years.

With a loud slap, Ava's hand landed on his face.

She hit him with all her might.

Alexander's face tingled, but he casually wiped it, looking at the angry woman before him.

Ava's hand throbbed as if it might split open.

She wanted to tear him apart. Ava turned and left the restroom. She was afraid that if she stayed, she would lose control and all her dignity.

Ava returned to the restaurant, her face showing nothing as if nothing had happened.

But she didn't want to be there.

"Mom." Ava approached Mia.

Mia noticed Ava's pale face, which was different from when she had gone in. "What's wrong?"

"I want to go back."

"Now?" Mia said, "We haven't finished our meal."

"Mom, you stay and eat. I'll go back on my own."

She didn't want to stay here for another second.

"But how will you get back? I drove you here. Do you want to drive my car?"

"That works," George said eagerly, "Ava, you can drive your mom's car, and I'll take your mom back."

George tried his best to spend more time with Mia.

Mia glanced at him coldly, her gaze piercing.

He immediately shut up, not daring to say a word.

"It's okay." Ava smiled faintly. "I'll find a taxi by the roadside."

Mia said, "It's far from here to where you can get a taxi. What happened? Why are you in such a hurry to leave?"

Did something happen between them when Alexander went in just now?

Before Ava could answer, Alexander came out.

Mia and George noticed a handprint on Alexander's face.

No need to ask. It must have been Ava who slapped him. Something must have happened between them.

Mia had a bad feeling.

Alexander stood in front of the three as if nothing had happened, expressionless and calm.

Mia put down her utensils and said coldly, "Alexander, do you have anything to say?"

"Yes." Alexander took a step forward, his gaze fixed on Ava.

Ava's eyes avoided his. Everything that needed to be said had already been said in the restroom.

His response had proven everything. Anything he said now was meaningless to Ava.
