Chapter 21 Pregnant Women Shouldn't Take Medicine Carelessly

"I'm fine now. I'll take it after lunch. It's not good to take medicine on an empty stomach."

"You didn't have breakfast that long ago, and you're not on an empty stomach now. Take the morning dose first, hurry up," he urged.

"What's wrong? Don't you want to take it?" Seeing Ava's hesitant expression, he was suspicious.

"It's not that. I just don't like taking medicine; it feels hard to swallow," she said, trying to resist.

"You can't skip it if you're not feeling well. Do you want me to feed you? Open your mouth."

He brought the medicine right to her lips.

"No need. I'll take it myself." Ava took the medicine from his hand and reluctantly put it in her mouth.

She couldn't refuse, or he would definitely get suspicious.

She swallowed the medicine with some water.

"I took it. Let's go."

"Open your mouth. Let me check." Alexander was like a parent dealing with a child who didn't want to take their medicine.

Ava opened her mouth, but Alexander wasn't satisfied. He made her lift her tongue to ensure she had swallowed it before he was reassured.

"See, you swallowed it. It wasn't that hard." Alexander didn't say anything more and took her hand to leave.

After a few steps, Ava stopped. "I need to use the restroom."

"I'll go with you," he said, holding her hand.

"Just wait here. It's awkward for a guy to stand outside the women's restroom. If you're not embarrassed, I am."

Alexander paused, then let go of her hand. "Alright, I'll wait."

Ava quickly handed him the bottle of water and hurried off.

"Take your time. Be careful not to fall," he called after her, his tone stern but full of concern.

People passing by looked on enviously.

Ava slowed her pace, clutching the fabric over her chest, her brow furrowed.

Unfortunately, his concern was now misplaced.

Ava rushed into the restroom, closed the door, and immediately leaned over the toilet, sticking her fingers down her throat. A wave of intense discomfort surged from her stomach and throat.

She forced herself to vomit up the three pills she had swallowed.

After flushing the toilet, she stumbled to her feet.

Ava washed her face with cold water and walked out of the restroom, just in time to see Alexander approaching. She was relieved she had come out early; otherwise, he would have heard her vomiting.

"Why did you come over? Didn't I tell you to wait there?"

Seeing Ava's frowning, reproachful look, he said coldly, "As your man, I'm worried about you. What's wrong with it?"

It sounded like it was her fault again.

That wasn't his intention, but to others, it seemed that way.

"We're getting divorced. You don't need to do this anymore."
