Chapter 480 Life was Short
"Okay, whatever decision you make, I will support you. If you really don't want to continue, then you should get a divorce. You will definitely find someone better," Brandon said.
Hailey smiled bitterly, "I'm already at this age. Who else can I find?"
"You are my sister, the heiress of the Smith family. What kind of man can't you find?"
Hailey looked at him with teary eyes. "Brandon, thank you for always supporting me. I was just too foolish. I insisted on marrying Dalton back then.No one could persuade me."
Witnessing her sorrowful visage, Brandon felt a profound sense of sadness wash over him. Approaching gently, he enveloped her shoulders, giving a comforting pat on her back. "Would you like me to teach Dalton a lesson for you? Just say the word, and I shall fulfill your desired course of action."
Hailey shook her head. "Don't bother. These years, he hasn't mistreated me in any way. He just doesn't love me as much as I thought. It's all my fault. I want to let go of everything now and start my life anew. I still have half a lifetime ahead of me."
Brandon nodded. "It's good that you can think like this. If you need any help, just let me know."
Hailey leaned on his shoulder, nodding. "Thank you, Brandon."
In the bathroom, Dalton splashed cold water on his face, looking at his reflection in the mirror, which made him feel a bit blurry.
William actually got himself into this sort of situation.
He had always been particularly strict with William. He was not an easy father to get along with. Instead of being a kind and gentle father, he always treated him strictly.
The thought of these things suddenly stirred a sense of guilt within Dalton. His harsh and cruel treatment towards William was not driven by a desire to see him improve under his rebukes, but rather for another reason.
It was his anger, not directed at William, but at another person, that led him to unleash his fury upon William.
Dalton took his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number. He was curious if anyone would answer the call because he called Mia.
After a while, the call was answered on the other end of the phone. Before Dalton could speak, the other person spoke first, "Hello."
It was a man's voice, not Mia's voice.
Dalton glanced at his phone to confirm he dialed correctly.
"Hello," The other person said again, "Who is this?"
Dalton lowered his voice and said, "I'm looking for Mia. It's about work. Where is she?"
George said, "She's taking a shower. Who is this? I'll tell her when she comes out."
Dalton was silent for a few seconds.
"Hello, can you hear me?" George couldn't hear the other person and almost thought it was a bad signal.
Dalton came back to his senses and said, "Don't bother. I'll call her later."
After that, Dalton hung up the phone, tightly gripping it, and let out a long sigh.
Mia finished showering and came out of the bathroom. Seeing George still there, she frowned. "Why are you still here?"
Last night, Mia was very upset. She called George over to accompany her. He should have left when she was showering in the morning.
"I'm your husband. What's wrong with me staying with you a little longer?" He didn't mind being at Mia's beck and call. His only request was to spend more time with her.
"You have the nerve to ask me what's wrong." Mia sneered. "Do you want me to humiliate you?"
"You humiliate me every day. I'm used to it." George had developed a thick skin from being humiliated by her.
"Mia, it's been so many years. Can't you feel my sincerity? We should live together well. After all, life is short."
Mia sat on the edge of the bed, indifferently smiling, somewhat sarcastic. "Back then, I begged you to live well with me, but you never listened. You hated me, despised me, and only thought about other women. At that time, did you ever think life was short? Oh, you definitely did because you felt life was short, so you wanted to be with the woman you truly cared about."
Hearing her ironic words, George lamented sorrowfully. "But now you are the woman I care about the most. I love you."
