Chapter 917 Absorbing Power

After more than ten hours, William was holding Sunny and feeding him.

"Hey, Sunny, how's that taste?"

"Sunny, I think your mom's messing around with Alexander again."

"I'm kinda bummed out. But don't sweat it, I'll figure out a way to get your mom back. The three of us, always together, no one can split us up."

William's lips twisted into a cold, harsh grin.

Just then, a guy in black rushed over and whispered in William's ear, "We found Alexander's place."

"Got it," William replied.

After the guy left, William calmed Sunny down and put him in the cradle.

"Sunny, I know where Alexander is. I'm heading out to find him now. Don't worry, I'll bring your mom back. No way I'm letting them be together. If they are, Alexander's gotta go!" William said, fuming.

Once Sunny was asleep, William left the house.

As evening rolled in, Alexander held Madison's hand as they got back to the villa.

Madison was on the phone. "Okay, I'll be back soon."

After hanging up, Madison linked her arm with Alexander's and said happily, "Alexander, my cousin Emily's coming over when we get back."

"Your cousin?" Alexander looked surprised.

"Yeah, she talks a lot, but we grew up together and we're super close. I'll introduce you. If you could help her find a boyfriend, that'd be awesome. When I told her about you, she freaked out. You're like her hero; she's read all the news and stuff about you," Madison said, grinning.

Alexander forced a smile and nodded.

Honestly, he didn't care about meeting her cousin or playing matchmaker. He was just doing it for Madison.

Today, Alexander had spent the whole day with Madison.

Madison could tell Alexander was trying hard to make her happy.

But in those unguarded moments, she could still sense he was somewhere else, like his soul was lost and she couldn't bring it back.

His soul had probably already run off with Ava.

At night, even though he held her while they slept, he'd call out "Ava" in his dreams and hold her tight.

No matter how close they got, when Alexander looked at her, Ava's image was always in his eyes.

Even though it hurt Madison deeply, she was still happy to be this close to him.

She was willing to be a stand-in.

She also knew the only reason Alexander was close to her was that when he closed his eyes, he saw her as Ava.

When Alexander showed Madison affection, it was like he was showing it to Ava.

This seemed to be his way of finding the strength to go on.

He drew strength from Madison that reminded him of Ava. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to hold on.

If she could get pregnant with his kid, that'd be good.

As they reached the door, Alexander suddenly stopped, his eyes locked on the door handle.

Madison asked, "What's wrong?"

Alexander tightened his grip on Madison's hand, "We need to leave."

Just as he turned to go, a bunch of guys in black showed up behind them, blocking their way.

"Mr. Mitchell, please. Mr. Bennett is waiting inside," one of the guys in black said.

Mr. Bennett must be William.

Madison, scared out of her mind, hid behind Alexander, clutching his arm and shaking. "Alexander, what's happening?"
