Chapter 458 Terrifying Thoughts
"The so-called opportunity you mention is to take William's life. She doesn't deserve the opportunity!"
One was the slim chance of William waking up, and the other was Isabella's fate. For Ava, the choices held no suspense at all. Even if hope seemed faint, she would never abandon William. What concern did Isabella's life or death hold for her? She did not harbor such lofty sentiments.
Everyone, at critical moments, would prioritize protecting those they care about.
Only a doctor, faced with two injured strangers, would choose to save the one who was most likely to survive and gave up on the one with little hope.
Alexander clenched his fists. "Do you hate Isabella so much? Everything is my fault. If you want to hate someone, hate me."
"Whether I hate you or not won't change my decision."
Even if this person weren't Isabella, her attitude would be the same.
Seeing Ava's indifferent look, Alexander couldn't believe it. "You've changed. You used to be so kind. You should know that not only Isabella, but others are also waiting for transplants. William could save the lives of three people."
Upon hearing this, Ava became furious. "Just because one person's life can save three others, does that mean we should sacrifice a few to save many? Why? What did William do wrong?"
"He's already in a vegetative state, don't you understand?" Alexander almost shouted.
"Don't talk to me about this. I don't care whether he's in a vegetative state or not. I don't agree!"
"Ava, he's lying here today. It's his fate. You've only been married to him for a day. When you made this decision, did you ever think about how selfish you are?"
Selfish.
Upon hearing this assessment, Ava couldn't help but laugh. She remembered that Alexander had previously accused her of being malicious in order to protect Isabella.
This man had never let her down. No matter how noble his words were, in essence, he always prioritized Isabella.
Fortunately, he expressed his feelings for her too late. If he had said he liked her a month ago, she might not have seen his true colors.
"I am selfish. Even if I've been married to William for just a day, so what? Even if it's an hour or a minute, I am still his wife. Legally, I have the right to decide. If you disagree, you can sue me!"
Ava was tired of arguing with him. It was clear that he was the selfish one.
"Yes," Vicky said, "Even if they've only been married for a minute, she is still William's wife. Whether it's inheritance rights or decision-making power, she comes first."
The monitor suddenly beeped.
Medical staff rushed into the ward. "Please, family members, step outside."
They were forced to leave the ward, and the doctor drew the curtains to save William.
"William." Ava pressed her hands against the glass, watching the critical scene inside through the gap, crying bitterly.
The scene stabbed at Alexander's eyes.
Does she really care so much about this man?
"Ava, if William isn't saved this time, can you agree? I'm begging you." Alexander's voice was particularly sad.
Ava's emotions collapsed, shouting, "Alexander, why are you so cruel? In this situation, you still say such things to me. You clearly want William to die!"
Observing the wounds on Alexander's face, reminiscing about their altercation from the day before, suddenly, she had a realization. As Alexander departed, he left her with these words. "This isn't over. I won't stand by and watch you and William live your lives together."
Contemplating this statement, her heart trembled violently, giving birth to a dreadful notion!
