Chapter 877 Betrayed Her
"William, how long do you think you can keep up the act in front of Ava? Sooner or later, she will know the truth of you. When that time comes..."
"What kind of truth of me?" William interrupted him. "Mr. Mitchell, you're so naive. Ava and I are already married. Even if I'm not a good person, what difference does it make if she knows? As long as I'm good to her, that's all that matters. I'd turn my back on the whole world for her, never betray her. You, however, have turned your back on her and betrayed her. What right do you have to warn me?"
William's words hit Alexander like a ton of bricks.
He couldn't find any reason to refute him.
Maybe, in Ava's heart, it didn't matter what kind of person William was.
Maybe she already knew what kind of person William was and just didn't care.
Seeing Alexander's silence, William knew he had the upper hand. He stepped forward and said, "So, even if you tell Ava the truth about that incident, it won't matter. She won't believe you, and even if she does, I have ways to make her forgive me. After all, we have a child together. What could she possibly do to her child's father?"
Alexander's brow furrowed. "What truth?"
Hearing this, a flash of confusion crossed William's eyes. "Alexander, are you trying to get me to spill something? You know what I'm talking about."
"Are you referring to the time you falsely accused me of pushing you in the restaurant? Yes, Ava did forgive you for that, which was unexpected. It seems you mean a lot to her."
Hearing Alexander say this, William felt even more puzzled.
At the kidnapping scene, Ava chose to let Alexander get hurt. He was severely injured and needed to call for help, so William took his phone away. He wanted Alexander to die there.
Why did it seem like Alexander forget this?
Thinking carefully, Alexander had never mentioned it. Otherwise, it would have been public knowledge by now.
He was always puzzled as to why Alexander hadn't told Ava about it. It would have been a powerful tool for Alexander to win her over.
If it were him, he would have used it to defeat his enemy, but Alexander did nothing.
Now, face to face, Alexander still didn't bring it up. Why?
"Maybe there's something else? Ava chose to let you get hurt, but you didn't die. How fortunate for you." William looked him up and down, feeling uncomfortable seeing Alexander in good health.
Mentioning that incident brought the scene vividly back to Alexander's mind and his chest muscles instinctively ached.
Ava had chosen to protect William without hesitation. No matter what William did, she would forgive him.
After he was injured, he always felt that William had done something to him, but he couldn't remember. His memory was a blur; he only remembered the arrow hitting his chest and then collapsing to the ground.
Next, William had smugly said a few mocking words and then he passed out, remembering nothing more.
He had a vague feeling that William had done something fatal to him, but he couldn't recall any details.
His phone had been lost, whereabouts unknown.
Many nights, he tried to recall, but nothing came to mind. He only remembered Ava choosing to protect William and leaving him there to die.
Clearly, Ava knew he was gravely injured and close to death, but she didn't care about his life or death.
