Chapter427 Spurring You On
Hailey's gaze fell on Ava, her eyes holding a mix of amusement and something else, making Ava feel a bit uneasy.
Nevertheless, Ava managed a polite smile. It was her first time meeting William's mother.
Hailey appeared well-maintained, a woman of grace and beauty.
William's exceptional looks must have been inherited from his parents.
"Fine," Hailey remarked, her tone casual. "When are you two getting married?"
The question instantly made Ava nervous, but she replied with a smile, "William and I are still discussing it."
"Discussing what?" Dalton interrupted.
Ava paused, then continued, "Marriage is a big decision, so it's important to talk it through."
"Don't you love each other?" Dalton interrupted again. "Since you're together and came here in such a hurry, aren't you getting married soon?"
"Dad," William, concerned about his father pressuring Ava, spoke up, "Ava meant..."
"Let me finish." Dalton furrowed his brow. "What's the rush?"
William wanted to say more, but Ava gently tugged at his sleeve, signaling him to stay quiet.
"Dalton, please. Go ahead," Ava said cautiously, afraid of revealing too much.
Dalton raised his head slightly and said, "Since you've made it clear to me, I think there's no need to waste any more time. You can go get your marriage license tomorrow morning and become a married couple."
Ava was taken aback. "What? Get the license tomorrow morning?"
She hadn't expected it to happen so soon. She thought there would be more time.
"That's right," Dalton said. "Since you've already entered into a romantic relationship, why wait?"
"But, Dad..." William said, "It's too soon. Even if we are to get married soon, we need to plan properly. I don't want Ava to feel wronged."
"Don't worry. She won't be," Dalton interrupted. "Get the license first, and we can plan the wedding later. Otherwise, who knows when it will happen? Young people like to procrastinate; someone has to push you from behind."
"Besides," Dalton continued, "if you don't hurry up and get married, how do I know you're not deceiving me? And I can also tell the Thompson family that my rebellious son got married behind my back. So, you're getting married tomorrow, and that's final."
William sensed Ava's hesitation and fear.
He spoke up again, "Dad, I think..."
"What now?" Dalton's voice turned stern. "Are you trying to deceive me? I ask you to get married soon, and now you're unwilling?"
"Dalton." Ava stood up. "Don't worry. William and I will get our marriage license tomorrow morning to prove that we're not lying. We're serious."
A faint smile finally appeared on Dalton's cold face as he nodded. "That's right. Some things should be done decisively."
Ava felt a slight discomfort in her stomach, a feeling of turmoil. She quickly turned to William and said, "I need to use the restroom."
William, noticing Ava's expression, stood up and took her hand, "I'll take you."
