Chapter 771 Sudden Silence

She yelled and hit him, and he had no clue she was his mom. She didn't dare tell him.

"Mr. Bennett, I'm really sorry for what happened yesterday and how I treated you before. I hope you can forgive me."

William grew more suspicious, wondering what Dalton did to make Mia apologize. She seemed genuinely sorry.

But he still didn't buy it.

"I don't care what you're thinking. Because Ava cares about you, I won't hold it against you. You can go now."

With that, William walked away.

Even though he said that, he was still fuming.

Mia's apology didn't change anything. The damage was done. A simple sorry wouldn't cut it.

'Why are the Mitchells so shameless?' William thought with disgust. 'They think they can just apologize and everything's fine. Alexander's like that, and so is his mom.'

Watching William leave, Mia felt a deep sadness, her eyes tearing up.

She knew she had missed out on so many years with William, failing to give him love and support. She felt guilty and blamed herself.

Even though Dalton caused all this, she still felt responsible as his mom.

She deeply regretted the harsh things she had said to William.

She figured William must hate her.

If he knew she was his real mom, it would hurt even more.

She looked tired and helpless, facing a problem she couldn't solve.

She didn't know what to do.

When William got back to the ward, Ava quickly asked, "William, what's wrong with my mom?"

Hearing Ava call Mia "mom" always bugged William.

'She's Alexander's mom, not hers. Why does she keep calling her mom? Is she unwilling to cut ties with the Mitchells?' William thought.

But he didn't show his annoyance and said, "I don't know. She seemed upset. I asked, but she wouldn't say."

"Did she yell at you?" Ava asked, worried.

William shook his head. "No, she didn't. Her attitude seemed different, but I don't know why."

"Maybe she really knows she was wrong," Ava said. "For my sake, can you forgive her? Don't hold it against her, okay? I'll find a way to make it up to you."

"Make it up to me?" William's lips curled into a mischievous smile. "So, how do you plan to make it up to me?"

Ava felt a bit embarrassed.

She was anxious and hadn't thought through her response. How could she make it up to him?

"When I get better, I'll cook something delicious for you," she said.

William held her hand. "Come with me abroad and finish what we started before, okay?"

Seeing Ava hesitate, William asked, "What's wrong? Are you unwilling?"

Ava said, "No, it's just that you brought it up so suddenly."

"How is it sudden? We had already decided before, but then that incident happened."

They suddenly fell silent.
