Chapter 528 Why Didn't He Avoid it in the First Place?
Alexander smiled helplessly. He said nothing more and bowed his head as if he were crying. Ava raised her hand and gently patted his back to comfort him.
At that moment, she didn't know what to say. Whether it was comforting words or harsh truths, they would both make him sad because she wouldn't reconcile with him. Even without William, she wouldn't remarry Alexander.
Alexander had now fallen into a painful cycle that he couldn't escape from. If he couldn't figure it out, nothing she said would help. Since the outcome evolved to make him so miserable, why hadn't he avoided it in the first place?
That was just how people were. They always failed to cherish what they had until they lost it and then started to look back. She really didn't want to be with Alexander anymore. It wasn't about love, but was just too painful.
The emotional bond between her and Alexander was tainted, as Isabella had interceded in their relationship. True love should be exclusive and pure. Even if Alexander gave up Isabella for her, she wouldn't dare to believe it again because she had already been cheated once.
Strictly speaking, Alexander didn't deceive her. He had made it clear before marriage, but she never knew that Alexander and Isabella had always been in contact during their marriage. Alexander said he was on business trips, but he was actually with Isabella.
For Ava, the hurt was too deep, so she told herself there would never be a second time.
A gust of wind blew, bringing a chill. Unknowingly, it was already autumn, and the temperature was gradually dropping.
Time flowed at its own pace, seemingly slow yet swift in its passage.
Ava hugged herself and took a deep breath.
Alexander lifted his gaze to find Ava shivering. He promptly removed his suit jacket and draped it over her, saying, "Let's get in the car."
Ava nodded, and then they got into the car.
It was warmer inside the car.
Ava took off the jacket and placed it aside.
Alexander started the car and drove away.
When they arrived at the hospital, Alexander parked the car in a parking space.
"How is William?" he turned his head and asked.
Seeing Ava not speaking, Alexander continued, "Since you believe it wasn't me who harmed him, it's even less likely that I would harm him now. I want to know his condition, not because I care about him, but because I care about you."
"Thank you for your concern," Ava said, "William is quite well. All he needs to do now is to focus on his recovery."
"That's good. I'll stay with William, and you stay with Isabella. We each have our things to do."
No matter how Alexander expressed his love, regrets, and apologies to her, what significance did it hold? He continued to wander back and forth in Isabella's presence.
No matter how much he said, one action could negate everything.
She didn't want to get entangled with Alexander over Isabella anymore. After all, she wouldn't get back together with him. Whatever happened between him and Isabella, she wouldn't interfere.
Alexander's matters were no longer her concern.
"Really? Is he really okay?" He looked at Ava's expression, which didn't seem good.
Sometimes, the person accompanying the patient could directly reflect the patient's condition.
"Yes, a miracle happened. He survived a near-death experience, so he will definitely get better and better."
Ava didn't want to tell Alexander the details about William. After all, what did William's condition have to do with Alexander? She couldn't go around telling people about William's situation, just like she wouldn't tell others about her and Alexander's matters back then.
