Chapter 602 Fabricating Out of Nothing
William indeed had a girl he loved in his heart, but the one he truly wanted was Ava. Afraid to reveal the truth, he resorted to lying.
Elinor suddenly thought of something and was still a bit puzzled. "You say I'm the girl he wants, but you two are married. Aren't you jealous?"
Ava smiled awkwardly. "Ms. Fairfax, actually, my marriage with William is quite complicated. We didn't marry for love, so... But please believe me. There's absolutely nothing between William and me as you might think. The reason we got married..." Ava realized she couldn't keep the truth hidden any longer.
"Forget it. I'll tell you everything." Ava roughly explained the situation to Elinor.
After listening, Elinor felt the need to sit down and gather her thoughts.
"So, you married him to help him?"
Ava nodded. "I initially thought that William held feelings for you and that pursuing you could lead to a happy outcome. However, when he told me you had rejected him, I didn't know what else to do."
Elinor awkwardly smiled. "So that's how it is."
It seemed William had deceived Ava quite a bit. Elinor was baffled by his actions. She thought, 'If he liked Ava, he should confess. Why invent a fictional girl and cause so much misunderstanding? But despite everything, he still marries the woman he loves. This whole thing is a mess.'
"Ms. Fairfax, I hope you won't tell anyone what I've shared with you."
Elinor nodded. "Don't worry. I won't tell anyone. You shared this with me because you trust me, right?"
"Yes," Ava said, "because I think the girl William loves must be someone worthy of his love, so I trust you."
Elinor smiled. "Thank you for your trust."
She pondered, 'It seems Ms. Anderson is a kind person, but Isabella doesn't seem nice at all. She always says with such sarcasm, making people feel very uncomfortable.'
"Ms. Fairfax, what do you think? Are you willing to help?" Ava asked.
Elinor thought for a moment and nodded. "Okay, I'm willing to help you."
Considering Ava was a kind person, Elinor didn't see any harm in helping. She also hoped William would quickly regain his memory and stop pretending she was the one he loved. She thought, 'If William really loves Ava, he should just tell her. Instead, I inexplicably gained an admirer, whose wife came to confront me, leading to a tangled situation.'
Ava breathed a sigh of relief. "Great, thank you. I'll make arrangements soon."
Elinor replied, "Okay."
"Let's exchange phone numbers." Ava and Elinor took out their phones and entered each other's numbers.
Meanwhile, Isabella, Alexander, and William had been waiting for a long time in the restaurant, but Ava still hadn't arrived.
Isabella was becoming increasingly impatient. She wanted to find Elinor and ask what she meant by calling William Mr. Bennett.
"Alex, I'm going to the restroom, too. I'll be right back."
Alexander nodded.
At that moment, only William and Alexander remained.
They gazed at each other in silence for a long time, but it was clear that the atmosphere was suffocating.
