Chapter 606 Did You Believe Me

She raised her hand and gently touched his forehead. "Does it hurt?"

William's forehead was slightly red. He shook his head. "I'm fine, Ava. It's all my fault. I didn't stand firm. It's my mistake."

"This isn't your fault. I saw everything." Ava turned her head and glared at Alexander, her eyes filled with disappointment. "Alexander, you knew William's condition, yet you still hit him. You did it on purpose. If anything happens to William, I will hold you accountable!"

Ava nearly shouted the last sentence and every word she uttered cut into Alexander's heart like a knife, making it hard for him to breathe.

Alexander gazed blankly at Ava as she shielded William, feeling as if his soul had been drained, leaving only an empty shell.

"Ava, you..." Isabella began, but Alexander seized her arm and pushed her aside. "This doesn't concern you. Move away."

"Alex, but she..."

"Step away." Alexander turned his head and glared at her angrily.

Isabella, too scared to continue, thought, 'Alexander Is such a jerk. I care so much about him, yet he still protects Ava in this situation. He must be crazy!'

Ava helped William to his feet. "William, how are you feeling?"

William shook his head. "I'm fine, Ava. Don't be angry. It's my health that's the problem. I lost my balance. Mr. Mitchell didn't push me hard. I think he might have been a bit frustrated, too."

While he seemed to be assuring her of his well-being and asking Ava not to be angry, but between the lines, he was implying that Alexander had pushed him.

This only fueled Ava's anger further!

Unable to contain herself, Ava sarcastically said, "Alexander, what gives you the right to lay hands on him? What did William ever do to you? If it's because of me, then blame me or hit me. It's my fault for not forgiving you after you divorced me for Isabella. When you said you loved me, I didn't agree to remarry you. I'm so ungrateful that I even married William. It's all my fault. You can hit me, but why bully William?"

"You never listen to me. You ignore my requests, always so stubborn and self-righteous, never considering anyone else's feelings! I thought you have changed. I really thought you have changed. But you haven't changed at all. No, you have changed. You've become even worse than before!"

Ava was in pain. She once believed that Alexander had changed for her and was no longer the same as before.

During this lunch, she had looked at him with pleading eyes many times, and Alexander had honored her requests. She even humbly texted him, begging him not to bully William. She truly thought Alexander had done it for her, but she didn't expect him to do this.

If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she might have naively believed that Alexander had changed!

oOnce again, Alexander had shattered her trust. It was always like this. Ava even despised herself for continually believing him!

Alexander's eyes were empty. As he looked at Ava, he was overwhelmed.

"Ava, if I told you that he deliberately fell just now and it has nothing to do with me, that I merely pushed his hand away and didn't bully him, would you believe me?" His voice was exceptionally devoid of emotion as if lifeless.
