Chapter 573 Virtue To The Fullest
Ava tugged at the corner of her mouth, somewhat incredulous. "What did you say?"
Vicky took a step forward. "I shouldn't have said those things to you yesterday, nor should I have followed you secretly. I'm sorry."
Vicky suddenly apologized to her, leaving Ava somewhat bewildered. "Why are you apologizing to me all of a sudden?"
Yesterday, Vicky was acting all bold and confident. She was not the type to easily back down.
"I thought it over by myself," Vicky said, "It was indeed my fault. We are friends; I shouldn't have doubted you. You are not someone with a chaotic personal life. I should have trusted you. The reason I was so angry yesterday was because I was worried about you. Alexander had hurt you before, and I was afraid you would be hurt by him again. That's why I got a bit anxious and may have spoken out of line. Can you please not take my words to heart?"
Ava smiled faintly. "Vicky, I was a bit mad at you at that time, but upon reflection, I know you were worried about me. And I also had my faults. If I had told you from the beginning, there wouldn't have been such a misunderstanding."
Ava reached out and held her hand. "We are still good friends. This incident won't change anything between us."
It was already quite rare for Vicky to apologize to her. As a young lady from a wealthy family, she was quite proud and not one to easily apologize to others, let alone so quickly. It showed that she truly considered Ava a friend, someone she cared about.
"Really?" Vicky asked anxiously, "You really don't blame me?"
"I really don't blame you. I'm not angry at all now. I'm happy that you came to apologize to me. I also had my faults. Now that we've cleared things up, we're still good friends. So let's not dwell on what happened yesterday," Ava said, smiling.
Vicky breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good."
Since knowing that Ava was her cousin, Vicky had treated Ava like a younger sister. So when she spoke a bit harshly to her yesterday, it might have been out of a sense of responsibility, but unfortunately, Ava was unaware of this fact.
Just then, a doctor approached. "Ms. Anderson, your aunt is awake. Please go and see her."
Ava nodded. "Alright, I'll go right away."
After the doctor left, Vicky asked in confusion, "Your aunt?"
Ava replied, "Yes, I have an aunt whom I haven't seen in many years. She came to the hospital last night. I'll check on her first. You stay here with William. I'll be back soon."
Vicky nodded. "Okay, go ahead. If you need anything, you can call me."
Ava nodded.
Standing at the door of Evelyn's ward, Ava didn't go in but glanced through the bed. After so many years, Ava didn't know how to face her at that moment.
When her parents were still alive, she remembered that Evelyn wasn't exactly a well-behaved person. They didn't have much interaction, but she vaguely remembered that Evelyn wasn't particularly kind to her, nor was she particularly bad, just average. After all, they didn't live together, so the feeling wasn't very pronounced.
But later, when Ava's parents suddenly passed away, in order to get the compensation money, Evelyn tried every means to adopt her.
The life during that period was truly indescribable.
Yesterday, she had paid for Evelyn's medical expenses and even waited for her at the operating room door. Ava felt that she had done everything within her power.
