Chapter 996 Unable to Refuse

"Alexander, you can't keep messing up your stomach like this, no matter what the test results say," Madison said, holding his big hand against her cheek. "You've got me now, and you need to think about us. Stop treating your body so recklessly."

Alexander nodded. "Alright, I promise."

Madison looked up at him. "Can you lie down with me for a bit? I'm feeling kinda anxious."

Seeing her so fragile, he couldn't say no. "Sure, let's lie down."

He pressed a button, and the head of the hospital bed slowly lowered.

Madison settled in, and Alexander lay beside her, wrapping his arms around her.

She cupped his face, closed her eyes, and kissed him softly.

Alexander held the back of her head, kissing her back with passion, their warmth mingling.

He kissed her deeply, fiercely.

Vincent had finally pulled through and was moved to a regular room after waking up.

Sunlight streamed through the window, filling the quiet hospital room with a warm, peaceful vibe.

Vincent lay in bed, feeling the fatigue slowly fade, his eyes resting gently on Ava by his side.

Ava sat there, still looking a bit worried, but when she saw Vincent awake, she sighed in relief, her eyes sparkling with gratitude. "Bishop, you're finally awake."

She was so beautiful, her smile like sunshine.

Bishop was momentarily taken aback, his mouth slightly open. "What did you call me?"

Ava smiled. "Bishop. You told me to remember that name. I've never forgotten it."

A small smile crept onto Bishop's face.

He was starting to like that name for himself.

He'd always gone by Vincent, with the nickname Death given by others. But he hadn't used Bishop in ages. It was the name his parents gave him, the name Christina used to call him. But after his parents died and Christina was gone, he stopped using it.

Back then, feeling like he was going to die, he told Ava his real name. He'd heard that if no one remembered his name when he died, his soul would be lost forever. So he told Ava his and Christina's names. He trusted her.

If it weren't for Ava, he wouldn't have told anyone. He felt she was worth it.

Vincent said, "Thanks for calling me that."

His eyes were full of deep emotions as he watched every expression on Ava's face.

His heart seemed to beat a little faster.

But he knew she only saw him as the guy who saved her life.

"Why are you thanking me?" Ava asked, confused.

She thought it should be her thanking him.

She'd been captured by those gang members, and he had protected her, even taking a bullet for her.

When Alexander and William came to rescue her, he thought they were the bad guys and threw her to the ground, shielding her with his body.

No matter how dangerous it got, he always thought of her safety first, even if it meant risking his own life.

A man who was a complete stranger to her was willing to do that for her, to risk his life for her. It was impossible for Ava not to feel grateful. Anyone would feel grateful and want to do something for their savior.
