Chapter 979 Obsession Ran Too Deep

Their car zipped through the busy streets, heading straight for the hospital.

Outside the window, the cityscape blurred by, with towering buildings and bustling crowds.

Inside, it was quiet. Alexander sat in the driver's seat, his profile sharp and thoughtful. His eyes were deep, hiding something.

Madison sat next to him, staring at his profile, totally smitten.

His handsome face was irresistible, every line oozing charm, with his brows slightly furrowed in thought.

Madison gently held his hand. "Alexander, don't be sad. Look, the sun's shining so brightly today. We'll be fine."

Alexander gave her a soft smile and nodded. "Yeah, we'll be fine. Everything will get better."

But his gaze drifted back to the window, still lost in thought.

The bustling city flowed past, skyscrapers rising, people hurrying by, each with their own story.

Alexander thought, 'Among all these people, what's their story? Do they part ways with loved ones like me? Do they find forgiveness, or end up alone?'

To him, these passersby were just faces in the crowd, unremembered.

If he walked among them, he'd be just another face, insignificant.

But everyone had a story—good, bad, happy, painful.

Alexander closed his eyes, took a deep breath, feeling a faint pain in his chest.

He reached out to cover his heart, his brows furrowing.

Seeing this, Madison got worried and hugged him. "Alexander, what's wrong? Are you okay?"

Alexander paused, then looked at his hand on his chest and smiled, trying to reassure her. "I'm fine."

Madison wasn't buying it. "How can you be fine? You looked like you were in pain. Let's get a thorough check-up at the hospital. Maybe there's something wrong with your heart."

Madison thought, 'My heart's already got issues. If Alexander has problems too, what would we do?'

Alexander said, "Madison, I'm really fine. I just suddenly thought of..."

He stopped.

He had suddenly thought of Ava, which made him feel uncomfortable. It was a psychological reaction, not a heart problem.

The human heart can hurt during times of sorrow.

"Alexander." Madison didn't know what to say, so she just gave him a comforting look. She reached out and gently stroked his face. "There's still a long time ahead. I believe you'll get better gradually. Even if you don't choose me in the future, I believe you'll meet a great girl."

Madison wanted to say that Ava didn't deserve him, but she knew she couldn't. She could only think it.

After all, Alexander was too hung up on Ava right now. No matter what, he wouldn't want to hear anyone speak ill of her.
