Chapter 730 After Choices

Seeing the doctor's serious face, Ava felt uneasy. "Doc, what's wrong?" she asked.

The doctor hung his stethoscope around his neck. "Your heart's beating a bit slow. Lie down, and I'll check again."

Ava nodded and lay down.

The doctor gently touched her abdomen and pressed a spot.

"Ouch!" Ava yelped. "That hurts!"

"Does it feel like a needle prick when I press here?" the doctor asked.

Ava nodded. "Yeah, what's going on?"

The doctor looked grim. "Your condition's worsened. We need to operate now."

"What?" William asked, panicked. "Why?"

The doctor turned to William. "Did she rest well last night?"

"Well..." William glanced at Ava, unsure.

Ava spoke up, "I went out last night, but I was in a car and a wheelchair, no physical activity."

"Ms. Anderson, I warned you not to exert yourself. Even without physical activity, emotions matter. We need to operate now; we can't wait."

The doctor was serious, and the situation seemed urgent.

Ava glanced at her phone. "What if I wait until 10 AM?"

"The original plan was 10 AM, but this is urgent. The longer we wait, the riskier it gets. This is about your and your baby's safety. Every minute counts."

Ava felt more uneasy. "But..."

She hesitated, thinking, 'I'm waiting for Alexander's call. What if I miss it?'

William stepped forward, holding her hand. "Ava, the baby comes first. We need to act now. Delaying is dangerous. Let the doctor operate. It's about your safety and the baby's safety. Time is of the essence."

"But what if Alexander calls?" Ava asked.

William thought for a moment. "I'll hold your phone. If he calls, I'll answer and explain everything."

"Really? You won't be mad at him?" Ava asked, worried.

"No," William interrupted. "Ava, don't you trust me? I care about you; I won't let you suffer. If Alexander calls, I'll tell him you went into surgery early and that you've been waiting for his call."

William held her hand tightly, his eyes red. "Please, Ava, don't hesitate. If you don't trust me, I'll have Vicky come over. You trust her, right?"

Seeing William's red eyes and worried face, Ava felt ashamed.

She thought, 'I doubted him.'

'Every time I doubt him, it must hurt him deeply.'

"William, I trust you. If Alexander calls, tell him I've been waiting for him," Ava said.

William nodded firmly. "No problem. So, do you agree to the surgery now?"

Ava nodded. "I agree."

She told herself, 'I can't let anything happen to my baby.'

'I can't risk my baby's safety just to wait for Alexander's call.'

'I have to make this tough choice,' Ava added in her heart.

She gave William her phone's lock screen password.
