Chapter 797 Like a Knife
William and Ava had planned a trip abroad.
Before leaving, William wrapped up the company acquisition.
Isabella's father refused to sell Skylabs to him, but William used every trick in the book until he caved and signed.
Right after, William handed the company over to the kidnapper.
He underestimated the kidnapper, who turned out to be even craftier.
William thought he could track the kidnapper through the transfer.
But the kidnapper used a third-party agent to stay hidden.
William tried everything but couldn't figure out who the buyer was.
Continuing the search would be a huge hassle.
The kidnapper utterly indifferent to William's investigation, almost mocking William, knowing he wouldn't be found.
William decided to stop.
Finding the kidnapper might not be wise since the video was still out there.
He focused on the trip with Ava; he didn't have time to get tangled up in this mess.
Once they were abroad, things would improve.
Everything went smoothly.
They finished all the paperwork and the medical facility in Stellaria was ready.
They boarded the plane to Stellaria.
After they left, things calmed down.
For the next week, Ava kept in touch with Mia.
Mia knew their situation and was glad they had settled in.
William was getting treatment, and Ava was recuperating and learning new things.
Seeing this, Mia felt she made the right call letting them leave.
Mia thought, 'With Alexander around, things were always complicated for Ava and William. Now, maybe William can regain his memory, and things will get better.'
Mia said, "Ava, just take care of yourself there. Don't worry about things here; I've got it covered."
Ava replied, "I know, Mom. If anything happens, tell me right away."
Mia said, "Of course, I will. That's it."
After hanging up, a voice came from behind her.
"Mom, were you talking to Ava?"
Alexander had heard Ava's name.
Mia was a bit taken aback and turned around, her face stiff. "Yes, why?"
Alexander must have heard something.
"Have you been in touch with Ava all this time?" he asked.
Mia smiled, "We talk occasionally."
"I heard you telling her to take care of herself. Where is she now?" Alexander asked, feeling uneasy.
"Alexander," Mia said seriously, "You didn't want to see her before. Why do you care now? You two are divorced."
Her words hit him hard.
A sharp pain shot through his heart.
"I was just asking where she is, that's all. I didn't mean anything else. If you don't want to say, forget it. No need to be so harsh," Alexander said.
Lately, he felt something was off, like everyone around him had changed. Ever since Grandma's dementia, everything was different.
Alexander turned to leave.
Mia felt guilty and grabbed his arm. "Wait."
