Chapter 761 Don't Hide from Me
Ethan thought Alexander's downfall was his own fault.
"Are you cursing me in your head? Do you think I deserve this?"
Alexander could guess what Ethan was thinking.
Ethan scratched his head. "I actually feel bad for you."
"No need to pity me. I know I deserve it."
Ethan sighed.
"Will you bounce back?"
Alexander's eyes flickered as he looked at him.
After a while, he nodded. "I will."
As long as Ava was okay, Ethan didn't care about anything else. To him, it was just that Ava didn't love him anymore, and there was no point in self-pity.
Morning sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow into the room.
The light fell on the bed, giving Ava's face a soft halo.
The room was filled with a faint scent of sunshine, making it feel warm.
Ava slowly opened her eyes.
For a moment, her mind was blank, but then memories rushed back.
Her eyes sparkled as she reached out to touch her belly.
"My baby."
William, dozing in the chair beside her, suddenly woke up.
"Ava, you're awake."
She grabbed his hand. "Alexander, what about my baby?"
Hearing "Alexander," William's brow furrowed.
He didn't expect her to call out 'Alexander' the moment she woke up, even though he had stayed by her side all night.
But William didn't show any emotion. He gently said, "Your baby is fine. Both of you are safe."
Ava turned to look at William. She froze. "William, what happened to your face?"
William had stayed by Ava's bedside all night. His face was pale, and his eyes were sunken, showing he hadn't slept.
There were two swollen red marks on his face, making him look in pain, with half his face swollen beyond recognition.
His body was stiff, as if he'd been through an ordeal.
The sunlight made his face look harsh, but he kept his eyes on Ava, his gaze full of helplessness, making one feel heartache.
"I'm fine." William turned his head. "I just fell."
Ava raised her hand and gently touched William's injured face.
William winced at the touch.
He held her hand. "I'm really fine."
"No, you're not. Tell me, how did you get hurt? Who hit you?"
The marks on his face were clearly from a slap. It couldn't be from a fall. Ava knew he was lying.
"Ava, I'm really fine. There were complications during your surgery, but in the end, you and your baby are safe."
William bent down slightly, gently stroking her hair, his gaze tender. "It's so good that you're okay. No matter what happens to me, it doesn't matter."
A thin layer of mist appeared in William's eyes.
Ava could see he had suffered greatly.
She gently touched her swollen belly.
Her baby was still there.
Ava said sadly, "Please don't hide anything from me, okay?"
