Chapter 994 Don't Expose Me
Madison needed a pretty thorough check-up, so it was gonna take a while. Alexander stuck around, but his mind kept drifting to Ava's sad face.
"Hey, Alexander, you sure you don't need a doctor for your face?" Madison asked, worried. "It's all swollen."
Alexander shrugged it off. "No, it's fine. It'll be better in a couple of days. Don't sweat it. You're the priority right now."
Madison felt a warm glow in her heart. "By the way, didn't you promise me last night you'd get checked out too? You should go now. Let's get it done together."
Alexander shook his head. "It's alright. I'll wait for you to finish."
Madison insisted, "Alexander, you go first. We'll still have to wait for the results together, so don't waste time."
She was really concerned about his health. After all, he was her future husband. If both of them were in bad shape, what would they do?
To calm her down, Alexander patted her hair. "Alright, I'll go now. You wait here, and the doctor will take care of you."
Madison was in a VIP ward, getting top-notch care, so Alexander didn't need to worry.
Madison nodded. "Okay. If anything comes up, I'll call you."
Alexander kissed her forehead and left.
Madison lay on the bed, turned her head to look out the window, and sighed softly, "I've worked so hard. God won't let me down."
A smug smile crept onto her lips.
After a bit, her phone rang.
Madison picked it up; it was an unfamiliar number. She answered.
"Ms. Allen, it's me," William said.
Madison recognized his voice. "Mr. Bennett, how'd you get my number?"
"Wasn't hard to find," William replied.
Madison had a hunch why he called. Seemed like the note she passed worked, and William saw it. But she played it cool. "Mr. Bennett, why are you calling me?"
William shot back, "Ms. Allen, I should be asking you that. What's up with the note you gave me? Does Alexander know?"
Madison replied, "Of course not. This is our secret. If you want to stay with your wife, keep this under wraps, say nothing, and don't expose me."
William frowned. "Madison, what are you up to? Are you and Alexander setting me up?"
Madison said, "I'm saving you because Alexander is setting you up. Everything on the note is true. You're in deep trouble; you've committed a serious crime, and you'll end up in jail in Stellaria."
The mention of jail made William's heart race. He felt a bit panicked. After all, he had done those things, and it was hard not to feel guilty. Plus, this was Stellaria, not his own country. If something went down, he might not be able to use his connections to get out of it.
William asked, "Madison, what do you mean? Why should I believe you? You and Alexander are clearly in this together. How could you possibly be looking out for me? You must be dying to see me in jail."
