Chapter 52 Reaching an Agreement
"Grandma said you would be a good father, Ha! Alexander, you wouldn't be a good father! I'm glad I didn't get pregnant with your child; it would have been a tragedy!"
Ava was provoked, and her emotions were running high, even her eyes turned red and tears the size of beans kept falling.
She felt the man's hand gradually loosen from her shoulder, and finally, he retreated weakly a few steps back.
Ava wiped the tears off her face and let out a cold laugh, "Since you and Isabella are so in love, why didn't you tell me from the start! Oh, I get it, you thought there was no point telling me, so you've just been planning this from the start, and I've been kept in the dark like a fool from beginning to end."
Alexander was exceptionally silent; he seemed to have never been this silent before.
He couldn't find any reason to refute the woman in front of him.
The pain in Ava's heart made her continue, "Bring the divorce agreement quickly; I don't want any house or property; I don't want to live this absurd life anymore!"
The word "absurd" seemed to reignite the extinguished anger in Alexander.
Their marriage, in her eyes, ended up being described as "absurd," nothing could be more ridiculous than this.
Suppressing his rising anger, he spoke hoarsely, "Today, Grandma said she wants us to have children. Now, you’re saying you want to get divorced? Do you think she wouldn't know if we got a divorce?"
"What else can we do? While maintaining a marital relationship with me, you and Isabella are flirting, and I have to be magnanimous because we agreed beforehand, so I must be magnanimous, right?"
Why should she be treated like this? She was human; she had a heart; she had feelings, so why was he being so cruel?
"What do you mean 'flirting'? Taking care of her is my responsibility!" Alexander retorted.
"Do you have no responsibility towards me because you have a responsibility towards her? Don't you know that I..."
Ava realized she almost let slip about her pregnancy and quickly stopped.
"Know what?" Alexander asked, he always felt that she was hiding something from him.
"Don't you know that I am your wife!" Ava rounded off the sentence, "Don't you have a greater responsibility to your wife?"
"Haven't I been responsible enough to you? I've given you everything in this past year, and I will give you a generous settlement after the divorce. Are you still not satisfied? What else do you want? A child? Sorry, I can't give you that!"
His last few words deeply tore Ava's heart into two.
Yes, he couldn't give her a child.
Every time they made love, he would always wear protection, but this child was still conceived. Even the pack itself stated it was not a 100% effective.
So, she wanted to keep this child; she felt that this child was a gift from heaven.
She originally thought that if she revealed it, it would cause trouble for Alexander, and he would be torn.
But now thinking about it, even if she did reveal it, so what? Alexander would definitely not want the child; he would probably ask her to abort it immediately. She was really too naive.
It was all her fault for thinking too highly of him, and in the end, all she got was a broken heart.
Ava clenched her fists, raised her head, and slowly said, "Good, I don't want a child either, even if you give it to me, I won't want it!"
He was already so cruel; why should she tolerate it?!
It seemed as if they had reached a consensus between them, but how much sincerity was there in this consensus?
