Chapter 854 Waking from a Nightmare

"Alexander, cut it out!"

"Alexander, where the heck are you?"

Ava's eyes flew open, and she found herself in some strange, dead-quiet room.

Her heart was pounding as she shot up, sweat dripping down her face.

Her eyes were wide with fear and confusion.

She'd had a nightmare about Alexander, dreaming he was dead.

Before he died, his sad eyes just kept staring at her, like she'd done something awful.

She thought, 'No way, he's gotta be fine now, probably forgot all about me.'

He didn't wanna see her, didn't even wanna call or text.

He didn't want their kid either.

He was so cold, why was she thinking about him all the time, even dreaming about him?

Ava turned her head and saw it was already light outside.

The morning sun peeked through the curtains, casting soft shadows in the room.

The door suddenly flew open, and William rushed in.

He'd heard Ava scream and came running, not even bothering to knock.

Seeing someone come in, Ava instinctively pulled the blanket up around her. When she saw it was William, she let out a sigh of relief.

"William, I'm okay, just had a bad dream."

Ava's eyes were still filled with terror and confusion. She tried to control her breathing, trying to shake off the nightmare.

The sunlight hit her face, highlighting her pale but beautiful features, her eyes showing a mix of confusion.

William walked over, looking at her with concern. "You had a nightmare? Wanna talk about it?"

Ava said, "Nothing big, just dreamed some bad guy was chasing me. Maybe I've been overthinking stuff lately."

"Ava, if something's bugging you, you can tell me." William held her hand. "Having a baby is tough. I get it. Don't keep it all inside. Remember, you're not overthinking; everything you feel is valid."

Ava looked at William silently, her nose tingling with emotion.

Most people would just say "you're overthinking," but William was different.

William never brushed her off; it was always her brushing him off, and she felt bad about it.

She didn't even dare to tell him about her nightmare.

How nice it would've been if Alexander had been there for her, saying those sweet words.

But that was never gonna happen.

Alexander didn't want their kid anymore.

And she was gonna spend her life with William; that was the reality.

One day, William would be her real husband, and she'd have to be ready to accept him. She couldn't avoid being close to him forever.

But right now, she just couldn't do it; she couldn't bring herself to sleep with him.

Seeing Ava in tears, William panicked. "What's wrong? Why are you crying? Did I say something wrong?"

He thought he'd messed up. "I'm sorry, Ava, it's all my fault."

Whether it was his fault or not, he apologized first.

"No, it's not your fault," Ava said. "I just suddenly felt really sad. Maybe I'm too sensitive after having the baby."

William immediately wiped the tears from her face. "No matter what, I'll always be here for you."

Ava didn't know whether to feel happy or sad about William's words.

William had now regained part of his memory.

What worried her now was that even if William got all his memory back, he wouldn't want to divorce her.

And she'd promised him that as long as he didn't want a divorce, she'd never bring it up.

"Ava, I made you breakfast. After we eat, let's take the baby out for a walk."

It had been a while since Ava had given birth, and her body had mostly recovered.

Being stuck in the house all day wasn't doing her any good.

Ava turned to look out the window. The sunlight was lovely, and a walk sounded nice, so she nodded. "Okay."
