Chapter 565 Not Related To Her
Ava sighed helplessly. "Stop saying these things. By the way, Grandma called me. I didn't tell her about your surgery. Don't tell her for now. I'll cover up the incident at the wedding for you."
"Thank you. I acted impulsively," Alexander replied.
Upon sobering up, Alexander came to comprehend the rashness of his actions at the time, yet, in terms of regret, his sentiments did not dwell deeply in remorse.
If given another chance, he might still do the same. In one's life, there were always impulsive moments. Just like an electrocardiogram, if it went flat, the person was dead. There had to be ups and downs to make one's life worth living.
"You only realize now that you were impulsive," Ava said coldly, "When you're drunk, you don't care about anything."
"I'm sorry. I won't do it again next time," Alexander said apologetically.
Seeing Alexander looking ashamed as he apologized to her, Ava felt a bit soft-hearted, but just a bit. Her rationality admonished her against yielding to sentimentality.
"You're like this every time, making mistakes and then apologizing," Ava said.
"Should I be stubborn and not apologize?" Alexander looked at her innocently.
"Alright, stop talking about this. This time, it's serious. The doctor said you can't drink for three days; otherwise, your stomach will be ruined, and you won't be able to eat solid food anymore."
"Is that so?" Alexander lightly tugged at the corner of his mouth, indifferent.
Seeing Alexander's indifferent attitude, Ava was very angry. "Alexander, your attitude right now is a problem."
Alexander raised his eyes to look at her. "Then what kind of attitude should I have? Should I be very miserable and ashamed?"
Ava was angry. "Your body is your own; why do you fail to cherish it as such? Are you aware of the gravity of the situation?"
"I know," Alexander replied.
"You know, and yet you still drink. You clearly know your stomach isn't well, but you always torment yourself like this. You've been to the hospital before, have you forgotten? How long has it been since then? By getting so drunk like this, you're only harming yourself," Ava said angrily.
"Why are you so angry then?" Alexander retorted, "I'm hurting my own body. Since you don't love me and don't care, why are you still angry?"
"I..."
"Don't say it's because of my grandma. I don't believe it," Alexander remarked.
Ava rose abruptly from her seat, glaring at him with a mixture of anger and frustration. After a moment, she circled around the sickbed to reach the window, drawing back the curtains and opening it wide. Gazing outside, she took a deep breath, seeking solace in the expanse beyond as she strove to regain her composure.
"So you did it on purpose; you wanted to make me angry; that's why you're tormenting yourself. You think if you get hurt, I'll soften up; maybe you're mocking me in your heart. Every time you do this, it hurts me. Is that what you're thinking?" Ava asked.
"I'm not mocking you," Alexander said seriously, "Not at all."
Ava turned around. "Even if you're not mocking me, you're humiliating me. Even if that's not what you intend, everything you do makes me feel humiliated."
Ava clenched her fists. "Since you're debasing yourself like this, I can't do anything about it. Your body is your own; if you don't care, that's your business. Seeing you like this only disappoints me more. It turns out you're so fragile, weak, and pathetic."
After speaking, Ava turned and walked towards the door. She decided that she didn't want to deal with Alexander anymore. It was up to him; his life or death was his own business, and it had nothing to do with her.
