Chapter 184 I Will Tell Him

Amelia: [What's there to be nervous about? You're carrying his child. Do you think he'd actually harm you? If he dares, you just let me know. I'll set him straight.]

Ava: [He's not going to hit me. He's not that kind of guy.]

Amelia: [Look at you, quick to defend him. Yet, you can't even summon the courage to tell him about his own child.]

Ava: [It’s just the anxiety, I don’t know how he’ll react.]

Amelia: [No matter his reaction, you need to tell him. If things go south, pack your bags and come stay with me. What's he going to do? It's not like you weren't prepared to raise the child on your own from the start.]

Ava: [I'll tell him. I just need to find the right moment.]

Amelia: [When are you gonna spill the beans? You're just wasting time. Spit it out—I'm anxious for you. Tell him tonight. I'll have the bed made up just in case he doesn't want the kid or if he says anything nasty, then you can crash at my place.]

Ava felt a surge of gratitude. Despite having no parents and an aunt who had abandoned her, the love of her grandmother and the friendship of Amelia were more than enough for her.

Ava: [Okay, I got it. I'll tell him tonight.]

Amelia: [Go get him and don't chicken out.]

Shortly thereafter, Alexander finally emerged.

Ava was startled to see him without clothing and quickly averted her gaze.

"Why on earth aren't you dressed?" she exclaimed.

He was usually so meticulous. Why was he acting so out of character tonight?

Alexander sprawled out on the bed and pulled the covers over himself, lazily saying, "Didn't feel like it. It's comfier this way."

Ava's cheeks flamed. "Go put on some pajamas; what kind of behavior is this?"

She clutched her own nightgown tightly, terrified he might try to undress her next.

"Ava." Alexander pulled her into his embrace, her cheek pressed against his firm chest. His heart thumped loudly, pounding against her face, "How long has it been since we've..."

He trailed off, his sultry tone speaking volumes.

Ava's mouth went dry. She pressed her palm against his chest, "Alex, I..."

She wanted to tell him about her pregnancy, but as the words reached her lips, she became overwhelmed with nervousness, her instincts urging her to flee from the situation.

Why was it so hard to say it now when she'd kept it secret at first?

"What's up?" Alexander sensed her hesitation and gently rolled her onto her back, pinning her down without putting his full weight on her, leaving a gap between them, "Is there something you want to tell me?"

Ava's heart nearly leapt out of her throat as she stared up at him.

Though they were married and he was unabashed, Ava couldn't help but feel shy.

"Alex, you... stop it, let go of me first."

She was so embarrassed. Despite wearing a thin nightgown, she was acutely aware that one swift move from his strong hands could tear it to shreds.

"You're blushing?" he teased, pinching her reddened cheek gently, "It's not like we haven't been like this before."

Staring at her flushed cheeks and captivating eyes, Alexander's Adam's apple bobbed, his breathing grew heavier, and his deep dark eyes blazed with an inferno.
