Chapter 447 I Want to Scold You

Ava shook her head.

Seeing her reaction, Mia snorted, "So, you don't think it was a mistake to marry William. If Alexander hadn't come to see you, would you still have a good relationship with William?"

Ava nodded. "Yes."

"In that case, it's Alexander's fault for coming to see you and saying those things."

Ava said, "Mom, things have turned out this way. Blaming anyone is useless now. I hope everyone can calm down."

"And after calming down, will you still meet Alexander?" Mia asked.

Ava closed her eyes in pain. "I don't want to see him anymore."

"You're unwilling to forgive Alexander, right?"

Ava answered,"'The issue between Alexander and me is no longer about whether I should forgive him or not. The situation has spiraled into this state; perhaps we both bear responsibility. Since wrongdoing demands consequences, now that we are divorced, only by maintaining a great distance can our relationship cease its downward spiral."
"He is the father of your child. Since he admits he loves you, he surely loves your child as well. Won't this fact sway your decision?"
'Given his son's nature, he could articulate his affections towards her, which indicated his private collapse,' Mia thought.
Ava clutched her stomach, in a flurry of emotions. "Mom, I am now married to William. If Alexander finds out about my pregnancy, he definitely won't take it lying down. He must not know."
"How could you entertain such a twisted notion? You should marry William." Mia was exasperated.
"I had no other choice. I did it to assist him."
"I understand you did it to help him. However, you actually helped him by sacrificing yourself."
"We merely entered into a sham marriage," Ava explained, "It's not real, and anyway, I had no intentions of marrying anyone else. Assisting William in this way seemed inconsequential."

Mia, both exasperated and bemused, remarked, "You're oversimplifying it. Have you ever considered, even if you deem it trivial, does William share your perspective?"

"William is the same as me. He knows this is a sham marriage, and he won't take it seriously."

"Has he personally assured you he won't take it seriously? You can't read his mind. Have you ever considered that it might be his father and him joining forces to lure you into a trap?"

Ava frowned, turned away, and astonishedly responded, "No, they wouldn't do that. They have no reason to."

"Is that so?"

"Yes." Ava stood up. "If you believe their actions are deliberate, then there must be a motive behind it. Do you think their aim is to have me marry into the Bennett's Family? I don't believe I possess such influence for them to conspire on my marriage purposefully."

"You may think you don't, but..." Mia paused as if wanting to add more but held back her words.

Finally, she sighed. The deed was done, and her anger was futile now. Some things were better left unsaid.

In the end, it was her own responsibility. If she had disclosed the truth to Ava earlier, maybe Ava would have hesitated and not married William.

"Mom, is there something you want to say?" Ava sensed Mia harboring something.

Mia retorted irritably, "I feel like scolding you."

Ava looked down in dismay.

"But scolding you now serves no purpose. The deed is done. When will you divorce William?"
