Chapter 971 I'm a Bad Guy
"Sorry, my bad. I made you upset. Let me take you to the hospital," Alexander said.
"No, don't," Madison choked out. "I don't want to go to the hospital. I just want you here, Alexander. Hold me, please? Just hold me. I've been waiting for you forever. I thought you'd never come back. I've been waiting and waiting."
Madison was crying so hard she could barely catch her breath.
Alexander's heart broke, and he held her tight. He lay down on the bed, pressing her head against his chest.
"I'm so sorry, Madison," he kept saying.
Madison could smell the strong scent of alcohol on him. He must've had a lot to drink.
"Alexander, when I had my heart attack, I didn't even want to take my meds. I thought, maybe I should just die."
"Madison, don't ever say that." Alexander tried to comfort her, "When you say stuff like that, I feel heartbroken. You have to hang in there. I'll find a new heart for you. Once you have the surgery, you'll be okay."
"Alexander," Madison said, her eyes full of tears, "I want to live too. That's why I took my meds in the end. Because I knew if I died, it would hurt you. I love you, and I don't want you to suffer. I don't want to be a burden. Don't worry. I'll always think of you. No matter what, you'll always be the most important person in my life."
Hearing this, Alexander sighed softly. "Madison, what am I gonna do with you? What if I never love you?"
"It doesn't matter. My love for you is enough. I'll share it with you bit by bit. Even if you don't want it, it's okay. Just let me stay by your side, to comfort you when you're hurting. That's enough. You need someone who believes in you. Alexander, I love you." By the end, Madison was crying so hard she could barely speak.
Alexander wiped her tears and held her tight, saying gently, "If only she were half as good as you."
Madison's lips curled into a cold smile.
Finally, did Alexander realize her worth?
She thought Ava was no match for her.
"Alexander, have you been drinking?" Madison asked, touching his face with concern. "You look so exhausted. Haven't you been sleeping well?"
Alexander held her hand, saying, "It's okay. It's all over now. I've found Ava. As long as she's safe, it's fine."
Seeing the worry for Ava still in Alexander's eyes, Madison was filled with hatred.
Painful tears kept flowing, and her heart was filled with indescribable agony.
"Alexander, can you promise me not to let yourself suffer anymore? You're a good man. You don't deserve this."
"Madison, I'm not as good as you think. I'm a bad guy. I've hurt so many women. I hurt my wife, I hurt Isabella, and now I've hurt you. Every woman around me gets hurt. Maybe I'm cursed. I'm just a bad guy."
"Stop it," Madison said, placing her hand over his lips. "Please don't say that about yourself, Alexander. Do you know? In my eyes, you're the best man. You're more honest than anyone."
