Chapter 407 His Choice
Alexander's hands, which had been tightening on her shoulders, gradually loosened.
"Do you really want me to cut ties with her?"
"It's not about what I want. I'm just stating a condition. It's up to you whether you can do it."
She knew Alexander couldn't do so, which was why she said it, to shut him up. She couldn't tell him her true thoughts or the things she was hiding from him.
What would happen if she did? He would turn around and go to Isabella, and she would become the pitiful one with no secrets left.
Alexander lowered his gaze, his lips nearing her cheek, the heat of his breath gently brushing against her skin as he hoarsely asked, "If I cut ties with her, will you come back to me?"
Ava's hands clenched the fabric of her dress.
She was nervous, wanting to avoid the man's heated breath, so she turned her head away.
"Alexander, stop fooling around, and don't ask such meaningless questions."
"Why do you think it's meaningless? Your condition is that I cut ties with Isabella, right? So, let me ask you, if I agree, will you remarry me?"
Upon sensing the seriousness in Alexander's tone, Ava was taken aback, turning her head to stare at him in a daze.
What was his reaction?
Initially, she expected him to reject her.
How could he leave Isabella? He wouldn't even give this question much thought.
But now, he seemed to be seriously considering it.
What was Alexander thinking? Was he really confused?
Was he genuinely interested in remarrying her, or was he trying to humiliate her?
Ava bit her lip and said, "You haven't answered my question, and now you're asking me. We'll never have a final answer if we keep going in circles like this, so let's not answer it at all. Let me go."
Ava pushed him hard, but Alexander didn't budge.
Ava was furious. "What do you want? Alexander, you're really annoying. When will you understand that we're divorced? Stop doing these meaningless things! After the divorce, it's impossible for us to be siblings or friends!
"Since you're asking me to sever ties with Isabella, here's my answer." Alexander held her chin with one hand, lifting her head, his deep gaze staring at her. He said seriously, "No."
Ava's mind seemed to collapse as if something had shattered. Although she knew this answer in her heart, she still felt something break when she heard him say it.
After a brief silence and daze, a faint smile appeared on Ava's lips as she said, "Okay."
She knew that this man's love for Isabella was one hundred percent real.
He would always choose Isabella, no matter what.
"Don't you have anything else to say?" Alexander was deeply hurt by her one-word response as if something had exploded in his chest, leaving him in a mess.
He wished she would at least curse at him, but she remained calm, as if she were facing a stranger.
