Chapter 812 No Need

Madison was fuming. "You're such a jerk! I can't believe I ever trusted you!"

Alexander smirked, "Took you long enough. People like me don't change, Madison. My ex-wife learned that the hard way. Don't follow in her footsteps."

Madison bit her lip, tears streaming down her face. She felt crushed. She never thought he could be so heartless, even after she humbled herself.

She shouldn't have lowered herself for him.

Madison angrily threw her suit jacket at him. "You're shameless, Alexander! I hate you!"

She turned and ran off. Alexander didn't stop her. He picked up the jacket and slung it over his arm.

Madison's footsteps faded away.

Suddenly, he heard a scream behind him.

Alexander turned and saw two women had collided and fallen. He quickly walked over and realized Madison had bumped into Isabella.

He looked surprised.

Both women were still on the ground, Madison clutching her chest, looking in pain.

Alexander helped Madison up. "Are you okay?"

Madison looked exhausted. She shook her head. "I'm fine."

She glanced at Isabella. "Are you okay?"

Isabella was still on the ground, staring at Alexander with shock and disbelief.

"What happened? Why are you here?" Isabella asked, her eyes darting between Alexander and Madison.

Seeing Alexander help Madison, Isabella was stunned. "What's your relationship?"

Even Madison looked confused. She turned to Alexander, "Do you know each other?"

Alexander let go of Madison and helped Isabella up. "Isabella, are you hurt?"

He spoke to Isabella like they were close.

"Alexander, why are you here?" Isabella asked, still in disbelief.

"Who is she? Why are you so close?" Isabella demanded.

"She's my friend," Alexander said. "She's sick, so I came to visit her."

Alexander responded calmly, not showing much emotion. He hadn't expected to run into Isabella here.

"Friend?" Isabella's sharp gaze landed on Madison. "How come I never heard about her?"

Isabella knew most of the people in Alexander's life, but Madison was new to her.

Seeing Isabella's hostile look, Madison was curious too. She stepped forward and said, "Hi, I'm Madison. Who are you?"

Isabella felt a flash of disdain. She could tell Madison had feelings for Alexander and was just pretending to be nice. She'd used that trick before herself.

Isabella felt uneasy. Madison's aura and appearance reminded her a bit of Ava.

Before Isabella could respond, Alexander spoke up, "Her name is Isabella."

He only gave her name, not their relationship. Isabella thought he was hiding something and felt annoyed. She immediately said, "I'm Alexander's fiancée. We almost got married."

Alexander's brows furrowed slightly. He remembered almost marrying Isabella, but he left when he heard Ava had been kidnapped. He still lost Ava in the end.

He hadn't seen Isabella since then and felt a bit guilty towards her. When she called herself his fiancée, he didn't correct her.

Madison looked shocked. "Fiancée?" She turned to Alexander. "What's going on? Didn't you say you were divorced and still loved your ex-wife? Now you have a fiancée?"

Isabella's heart raced. "You didn't tell her about me? Is she really just a friend?"

Last time, Alexander left her at the wedding, breaking her heart. He hadn't contacted her since, and now he had another woman with him.

Isabella thought, 'Where did this woman come from?'

She asked, "Alexander, why?"

Alexander felt a headache coming on. He hadn't expected this mess.

Even though Alexander had just met Madison, conflicts seemed inevitable whenever they crossed paths.

"Ms. Allen, please go back to your ward," Alexander said.

He hadn't seen Isabella in a while and wanted to clear things up with her.

Madison sighed, "Fine."

Her heart felt like it was being torn apart. She couldn't understand Alexander anymore. What was he thinking?

Was he just a liar, pretending to be sincere but treating every woman the same way? Who was Isabella a stand-in for? He hadn't even mentioned having a fiancée. Since he didn't deny it, she must be his fiancée. How could he do this?

Madison felt deeply deceived and in great pain. Now, Alexander chose Isabella and asked her to go back to her ward alone.

Madison was both angry and hurt. She clenched her fists, trying to calm down and suppress her anger. "Goodbye," she said, wiping her tears and starting to leave.

But after a few steps, she suddenly clutched her chest and collapsed.

"Ms. Allen!" Alexander rushed to her, helping her up and gently shaking her. "Ms. Allen, what's wrong? Wake up."

Madison's face was pale, her brows furrowed, and she seemed unable to breathe.

Alexander immediately picked her up and carried her towards the hospital.

Isabella followed. "Alexander!"

Madison was taken to the emergency room. Alexander waited outside, looking guilty. He must have triggered her. She had a heart condition, and this stress could be life-threatening. But he couldn't treat her as a substitute for Ava.

Isabella clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. After a long time, she took a deep breath, calmed herself, and walked to Alexander. "Alexander, can you tell me what's going on? Who is this woman?"

Alexander leaned against the wall, his eyes lowered. "She saved me."

"What?" Isabella was surprised. "She saved you? When did this happen?"

Thinking about it made Alexander's heart ache. He almost couldn't breathe at the memory.

"It's all in the past; I don't want to talk about it anymore," he said. He genuinely didn't want to revisit it.

He changed the subject. "I'm sorry about the wedding; it was my fault. I abandoned you."

Isabella bit her lip, her eyes filled with pain. "So you do know how to apologize. I thought you didn't even realize you were wrong. You haven't contacted me since that day. Did you abandon me, Alexander?"

Alexander straightened up from the wall. "I can't be with you anymore. You'll find a good man."

"You..." Isabella was furious. "Alexander, you're outrageous. How many more people do you need to hurt to be satisfied?"

"Isabella," Alexander said coldly, "I don't want to hurt you, which is why I can't be with you. It wouldn't be fair to you."

"Fair or not, who are you to decide?" Isabella shot back. "Shouldn't it be up to me?"

Alexander remained silent. Anything he said would only make things worse.

Isabella wiped her tears. She knew pursuing this further was pointless. Alexander had truly abandoned her.

Eason had told her that Ava and William had gone abroad. She was happy to hear Ava was gone, hoping she'd stay away forever. But she didn't expect another woman, Madison, to appear so quickly by Alexander's side, and she even resembled Ava.

"Isabella, why are you at the hospital?" Alexander suddenly asked.

He realized he had run into Isabella at the hospital. Was she sick?

Isabella sighed, "My heart transplant surgery was successful, but it's not my heart. I need regular check-ups. The doctor found a small problem and asked me to stay for observation."

"What did the doctor say?" Alexander was worried. He already felt guilty for abandoning Isabella, and now her heart might have issues.

Isabella replied, "The doctor said I should stay for a few days for observation. The situation is still unclear. I just didn't expect to run into you and that woman. I feel deceived."

"I've only known her for a few days," Alexander said. "I didn't plan to get close to her, so I didn't think it was necessary to mention it."

"Really? Not necessary?" Isabella smiled bitterly. "Indeed, you don't have to explain this to me."
