Chapter 1010 Nothing Left to Say
"I don't know," Ava said. "You deal with it. I don't have a say in this." William had messed up so bad that she couldn't make Alexander forgive him.
Alexander said, "I can't just let this slide, Ava. I'll be straight with you. Since William's run back to the country, I'm handing this video over to the Stellaria police. Whether they catch him or not, that's on them. This is William's chance. If he stays put, he's safe. But if he comes back to Stellaria, he's done for. You cool with that?"
Ava nodded. "Yeah, okay."
It made sense. William had screwed up, and if Alexander wanted to punish him, she couldn't stop him. Alexander was being fair.
But now William had fled back to the country, and the Stellaria cops couldn't find him. Ava was torn.
On the one hand, she got why Alexander was so pissed. William had hurt him and almost killed him. Even if Alexander went to the police, she couldn't argue and had no right to ask him to forgive William.
On the other hand, if William ended up in jail, she'd feel awful. The video showed William was looking for her, thinking Alexander had hidden her, which made him freak out. When people panic, they lose control. This whole mess started because of her. If she hadn't gone out that night, none of this would have happened. But yeah, William did mess up and needed to face the consequences.
Alexander closed the video and pulled out the USB drive. "Ava, got anything else to say?"
Ava felt ashamed and shook her head. "No."
Alexander said, "Alright then, I'm taking this to the police now. I'm out." With that, he turned to leave.
"Alexander," Ava grabbed his arm.
Alexander stopped. "What?"
Ava asked, "When are you getting the biopsy?"
Alexander was quiet for a long time before he said, "When I get the biopsy, Madison will be with me. If you're there, it'll hurt her."
Ava lowered her eyes, a bitter smile on her lips. "I get it. But you need to get the biopsy ASAP. Once you get the results, you must let me know. Even if we're not together anymore, we've known each other for years. Keep me in the loop. Don't shut me out like last time."
If Alexander hadn't shut her out after he got hurt last time, things might've been different between them.
Seeing how worried Ava was, Alexander felt a sudden urge to hold her. But he knew he couldn't; Madison was waiting for him. He couldn't hold onto Ava while being with Madison.
In his marriage with Ava, he'd already wronged her. He couldn't do the same to Madison now.
Alexander turned and left without looking back.
Ava felt completely drained, walking slowly towards Bishop's hospital room.
On the way, she took out her phone, wanting to call William and confront him. But after thinking it over, she put the phone back in her pocket.
