Elinor smiled slightly. "Do you really think so?"
Ava nodded. "Absolutely."
"Aren't you jealous? You are his wife, even if you two are..."
Ava laughed. "What is there to be jealous about? Don't worry. I won't be jealous. After all, our marriage isn't real. I hope he can find a girl who truly suits him. Ms. Fairfax, I think you might be that person. It's no wonder he likes you so much. When he first mentioned you to me, he was both happy and sad. I understand those feelings well. Liking someone is just like that."
Elinor felt a bit awkward, unsure how to respond to Ava's candidness.
She thought, 'Ava is such a naive girl. William clearly loves her. If William really loved me, how could I possibly refuse him? No one can refuse him except you.'
"What's wrong, Ms. Fairfax?" Ava asked, "Is an issue? Just let me know, and I'll help, or if you're feeling uncomfortable."
"It's not that," Elinor said, "I just think you two are well-suited for each other. Maybe he doesn't like me as much as you think. Have you ever considered he might prefer being with you?"
Ava was taken aback, her smile faltering slightly.
"Ms. Fairfax, don't misunderstand. William and I are just..."
"Ms. Anderson, answer me honestly. Don't you think he likes being with you?"
Ava sighed lightly. "He is very kind to me, but William has lost his memory now. Maybe he relies on me."
Hearing this, Elinor recalled what William had mentioned before dinner. She pondered, 'It turns out Ava really thinks this way. William anticipated it. Ava smiled warmly. "Anyway, thank you for tonight. William seemed genuinely happy, more relaxed than I have see him a long while. Although he used to smile at me, I rarely saw him so at ease. The atmosphere between you two is really different. If you have time. Could you keep in touch with him more often?"
"I'm not sure. It depends."
Ava awkwardly said, "Sorry, I almost forgot you have a boyfriend."
Now it was Elinor's turn to feel awkward. She didn't have a boyfriend either.

"Why did you break up again?" Ava asked

"I see." Ava was relieved to hear this. Elinor being single again meant William might have another chance.
She was genuinely happy for Elinor, believing it was better to end an unsuitable relationship early rather than prolonging it.

"Ms. Fairfax, can you honest with me? How do you feel about William? Do you really not like him at all?" Ava asked.
