Chapter 906 No One's Fighting for It Anymore

Ava struggled to get him onto the bed, letting him crash down.

"What's your name?" Vincent mumbled, barely hanging on.

"Ava," she said.

"Ava," Vincent echoed, his voice fading as he drifted off.

Once he was out cold, Ava checked his forehead for a fever.

She spotted a bathroom and snuck over.

A bit later, she came back with a basin of warm water and a towel.

Ava wrung out the towel and started cleaning the blood off Vincent.

His body was a mess of scars, some deep, some shallow, and a bunch of what looked like bullet wounds.

'This guy must get hurt a lot. What's his deal? Is he in a gang? But he doesn't look like those tough guys,' Ava thought.

She rinsed the towel a few times, turning the water red.

She dumped the water and got a fresh basin.

Ava went back and forth, changing the water four times before she finally got Vincent cleaned up and tucked him in with a blanket.

Now he could sleep better.

Just then, her phone buzzed in her pocket.

Ava pulled it out and saw William calling. She picked up right away.

In the living room, she answered, "Hey, William."

"Ava, you back yet?" William asked worriedly, he had been waiting for hours.

"Don't worry, William, I'm good. Might be back a bit late." She realized she forgot to call him.

"Where'd you go?" William asked.

"I'm safe, William. Just needed some alone time," Ava said.

She couldn't leave Vincent just yet; she had to wait till he woke up.

"Are you really alone? Ava, be straight with me, did you go see Alexander?" William pressed.

Ava went silent.

"So you did see him," William sounded hurt, "Ava, you..."

"William," Ava cut him off, "I did see him, but I came back. Don't worry, I'm not getting back with Alexander. His girlfriend Madison is pregnant."

"What? Madison's pregnant?" William was shocked.

Talking about it hurt, but she kept her voice steady, "Yes. So, it's over between Alexander and me. Don't worry about me. I just need some alone time. Might crash at a hotel tonight."

She couldn't tell William about the danger she faced tonight; he'd freak out.

"Ava, if you need to talk, I'm here. Don't bottle it up," William reminded her.

"I know. William, I just need some space right now. I don't want to dump my bad vibes on you. Give me some time, I'll be back. Please look after Sunny," Ava said.

Asking him to take care of Sunny made her feel a bit guilty. William had always been there for her and Sunny.

She was super grateful to William for sticking by her during tough times.

William said, "Don't worry, I got Sunny. Take your time. I won't bug you, but keep in touch. I need to know you're safe, okay?"

Ava agreed, "I'll call you tomorrow morning. I'm beat and need to rest."

"Alright, get some sleep." Knowing Ava was safe, William felt relieved. He'd been worried she was with Alexander.

But with Alexander's girlfriend pregnant, that was a game-changer.

William was both surprised and happy.

Now, Alexander was out of the picture, and no one could take Ava from him. Perfect.

As long as he gave Ava space, she'd be his girl eventually.
