Chapter 564 Didn't Abandon Me

Ultimately, if Ava didn't love Alexander, then everything Alexander did wouldn't hurt her. It was mainly because she loved him, and he thought she didn't love him, which led to this result.

Upon hearing Ava's words, Vicky became even angrier. "You are protecting him. After he hurt you, you went to William for comfort again, just like before, treating William as your spare tire."

Ava was really angry. "Your words are too much. I have never treated William as a spare tire. Also, I have never run to him for comfort. I admit that when I was hurt, William accompanied me and comforted me. I am very grateful to him, but all of this is not because I cling to him. It's because William is a good person who is willing to help me. Just because of this, I am willing to help him. I even used marriage to help him. Now, you actually say that I treat him as a spare tire. Which woman in this world would be so daring to help her spare tire?"

Vicky clenched her fists. "That's what you think. But William doesn't think so. Do you know what William..."

Ava furrowed her brows. "What's wrong with William?"

The unspoken sentiment lingered within Vicky as she ultimately swallowed her words once more, pondering that since William hadn't confessed to Ava, it wasn't opportune for her to do so now, either.

Furious, Vicky blurted out, "It's all because of you that William is like this. You had better not let him know about this; otherwise, he would be overwhelmed. It will be all your fault!"

After she finished speaking, Vicky turned and left in a huff.

Ava wanted to call out to Vicky as she took a few steps in pursuit, but her thoughts turned to Alexander in the operating room, prompting her to halt her stride.

Ava thought, 'Vicky was still angry, and even if I caught up to her, it would only lead to an argument. I shall await Vicky's composed state before engaging in a calm conversation with her.'

Three hours later, the doctor came out of the operating room. Ava approached, asking, "Doctor, how is it going?"

"The surgery was very successful. We have repaired the perforation, but the patient cannot drink alcohol for at least three years. Otherwise, it will cause serious damage to his stomach."

"How serious will it be?" Ava asked.

The doctor said, "If this happens again, it's very likely that in the future, he will find it difficult to eat normally. He may forever have to eat liquid food only, unable to eat solid food again. So for at least three years, he must take good care of his stomach, absolutely no alcohol, and it's best not to even consume foods containing alcohol, including spicy and stimulating things."

Ava was somewhat worried. Could Alexander endure not drinking alcohol for three years?

Just then, Alexander's hospital bed was wheeled out of the operating room, and Ava immediately followed.

When Alexander woke up, it was almost dark outside. Ava leaned on the chair next to the bed, feeling drowsy.

Alexander opened his eyes and saw Ava by the bed. A relieved smile appeared on his face. It was good to be able to see her when he opened his eyes.

Alexander just looked at her like that, afraid that Ava would disappear if he blinked.

He couldn't bear to wake her up.

So, he watched her like that for more than ten minutes. Ava slowly opened her eyes and found that Alexander was awake. She quickly sat up straight.

"You're awake. How do you feel?" Ava asked.

"Have you been with me all this time?" Alexander said.

"You always talk nonsense," Ava said coldly, "Otherwise, why would I be here?"

Alexander's smile was bitter yet relieved. "Thank you for not abandoning me."
