Chapter 813 I Don't Believe It

Alexander looked at her, lost for words.

He felt guilty about Isabella.

He had no right to lecture her.

He did leave her alone at the wedding.

Even if Isabella cursed him, he deserved it.

Seeing Alexander's indifferent look, Isabella felt hurt and angry.

She'd rather he argue or fight with her.

But his coldness showed he had no feelings for her.

Maybe he never did; maybe it was all in her head.

"What about this woman?" Isabella asked. "You left me and now you want to be with Madison?"

"Isabella," Alexander interrupted, "you'll find someone better. Don't waste your time on me."

"Easy for you to say," Isabella shot back. "You just walk away, and I have to watch you with someone else. How can I accept that? We both fell, and you helped her up. You're shameless, Alexander!"

Alexander felt a headache coming on. "Think what you want."

"You..." Isabella clenched her fists. "Fine, if you're so indifferent, there's nothing more to say."

She wiped her tears. "Stay with Madison then. I hate you, Alexander!"

With that, Isabella ran off.

Alexander didn't chase her. He let her go.

He caused all this. If she hated him, he accepted it.

He leaned against the wall, sighing deeply.

He asked himself, 'Ava, what have I done? Why didn't I just die back then?'

About half an hour later, Madison woke up.

Seeing Alexander by the bed, she felt joy.

He was still here.

"Mr. Mitchell, I thought you had left," Madison said.

He had said cruel things, but he was still by her side when she was in trouble. Maybe he was good at heart.

He only said those hurtful things to make her give up.

Alexander looked at her, his eyes frigid. "Since you're awake, I'll be leaving. This is the last time we'll meet."

He turned to leave.

"Wait," Madison called out.

Alexander frowned. "What else?"

"Why didn't you tell me about Miss Harrington? She's your fiancée. What happened? Don't you love your wife?"

With his back to her, Alexander coldly said, "I cheated during my marriage. I divorced my wife for another woman, then regretted it. Does that make sense to you?"

Madison was shocked. "No way, you can't be that kind of person. I don't believe it."

"If you don't believe it, why ask?" Alexander turned around. "I've answered you. Believe it or not, it's up to you."

He was about to leave.

"No, don't go," Madison said, getting off the bed in agitation.

"Wait a minute."

Alexander turned around, frowning deeply.

He wanted to help her but pulled back.

If he kept helping, she'd get the wrong idea.

Madison awkwardly lay on the ground, struggling to stand.

"You must have your reasons. I don't believe you're that kind of person."
