Chapter 237 Please, I Beg You

"If you hadn't brought up divorce, none of this would've happened!" Ava practically roared, past the point of caring. She let go of her grip forcefully, "Alexander, it was you who wanted the divorce to be with Isabella. Now that we are divorced, don't you dare try to pin everything on me. If there's one mistake I made, it's marrying you! Marrying a man whose heart belongs to another woman—that's the biggest mistake of my life!"

After her fiery outburst, Ava opened the car door, got in, and drove away.

Alexander watched her car fading into the distance, his eyes filled with a sense of desolation.

Her words echoed like a hammer, relentlessly pounding his heart.

He let out a heavy sigh, reflected for a moment but didn't leave. Instead, he walked back into the mansion.

Half an hour later, Alexander emerged from the mansion and drove away.

...

Ava returned to her place, completely drained. She'd promised to have dinner with Grandma today, but with evening upon her and no dinner had, she just felt exhausted.

Lying in bed, she sighed deeply.

"Alexander, you jerk, how did I ever marry someone like you?" she muttered to herself.

He had the audacity to shift all the blame onto her—outrageous!

He was never a good husband, and now, he didn't even qualify as a decent man. She had truly misjudged Alexander.

Settling into unfamiliar surroundings, Ava felt uneasy and woke up early the next day.

She had promised her grandma that she would visit first thing in the morning to apologize.

Regardless of whether or not Alexander cared about Scarlett's feelings, Ava did.

To her, Scarlett was the dearest person in the world, and Ava would do anything to seek her forgiveness.

Before leaving, Ava spent a while throwing up in the bathroom.

Luckily, she wasn’t suffering from severe morning sickness, the kind that some pregnant women endure, where they throw up everything they eat all day long.

Thankfully, it wasn't that bad for her, or others would quickly notice her pregnancy.

Her belly was beginning to show. She would need to ask for Scarlett's forgiveness and then figure out how to tell her she would be gone for a while.

Then, she would secretly have the baby.

Maybe by that time, she'd have the courage to tell Scarlett the truth.

Ava whipped up some mini treats and headed over to the elderly lady's house. As she entered, Steward approached her, "Mrs. Mitchell."

"Steward, I'm divorced now. I'm no longer Mrs. Mitchell of the Mitchell's Family."

"Uh..." The butler gave a faint smile, "It's just habit. Let's stick with it. If the old lady hears me changing how I address you, she'd be heartbroken."

Ava nodded, "Alright then."

As long as it made her grandmother happy, a title was trivial to her.

"How is Grandma?" she asked.

"The old lady spends most of her time in her room, still upset about what happened yesterday."

Ava's eyes fell, a look of dejection on her face. "May I see Grandma, please?"

"Mrs. Mitchell, the old lady doesn't want to see you right now. You should go back home."

"Steward, please just let her know—I realize I was wrong, I want to see her, to explain. I'm begging you."

Ava took a step forward, "Or let me tell Grandma myself, please."
